Man Utd: Breaking down their tactics after Bruno Fernandes criticism - BBC

Figure caption, Man Utd humbled by four-goal Como to pile pressure on CarrickByFootball tactics correspondentManchester United captain Bruno Fernandes appeared to question their tactical approach after Wednesday's 4-1 Champions League defeat by Como. "We started off on the wrong foot," the Portuguese said. "They scored very early, [we had] not much pressure on the ball. "It's a decision from the staff to not press man-to-man and sometimes leave some space behind, to try and get the ball in the first moment [by] waiting for them, [giving] them the ball. "Sometimes when you give too much of the ball to these teams, they get confidence. They have so many bodies behind the ball, they make you run a lot, people get frustrated. "His quotes are tactically dense so warrant breaking down, but what did Fernandes mean, and does he have a point? Since Michael Carrick became United manager in January, they have largely defended in a zonal 4-2-4 or 4-4-2 shape that springs into a press in moments.

French teenage rugby player dies after on-field injury - BBC

A 17-year-old amateur rugby player has died after suffering an on-field injury during a match in France. Clea Menier - a back row for Union du Bassin Marmandais - died after what her club said was an "accident" during an under-18s match against Agen Agglo Rugby on Saturday. After receiving medical attention on the field, the teenager was taken to Pellegrin Hospital in Bordeaux, where she died from her injuries. Neither the club nor the French Rugby Federation (FFR) have disclosed the nature of her injury. "It is with immense sadness and indescribable pain that Union du Bassin Marmandais learned of the death of Clea," the club said in a statement, which paid tribute to the emergency services who treated her. "We are also thinking of her loved ones and friends, whose immense pain we share, as well as her team-mates, coaches, and everyone who had the privilege of knowing her and sharing their passion for rugby with her. "This is a terrible ordeal for our club. We will get through it together - united, standing in solidarity, and looking after one another. "The FFR said: "This loss has deeply shaken the entire rugby family.

Warriors’ Lendeborg: ‘Lost all respect’ for Doncic - TSN

LOS ANGELES -- In the aftermath of a 127-105 opening-night loss, Golden State Warriors rookie Yaxel Lendeborg said he "lost all respect" for Los Angeles Lakers superstar Luka Doncic because of the way he begs for foul calls. "I had a lot of respect for him [because] I didn't really watch the NBA much," Lendeborg said. "I just watched highlights and seen him kill people. But being in it firsthand and seeing all the whining and complaining, I lost all respect. "Without the injured Jimmy Butler and Moses Moody, the Warriors started Lendeborg on the wing in his professional debut and had him defend Doncic for a large chunk of the game. Lendeborg had his share of success, holding Doncic to 1-of-6 shooting as the primary defender, according to ESPN tracking stats. But the Lakers offense hummed regardless, scoring 32, 34 and 36 points in the first three quarters to build a 35-point lead. After several physical possessions against each other, tempers flared late in the second quarter when Doncic pump-faked Lendeborg into a shooting foul near the top of the key and let him know about it after the whistle. "That was awful," Lendeborg said.
