Tesla to report earnings after Elon Musk floats SpaceX merger plan - The Guardian

Investors will be paying close attention to Tesla’s third-quarter earnings call on Wednesday afternoon, after chief executive Elon Musk floated the idea of merging the car company with his rocket and AI company, SpaceX. On a call with SpaceX investors on Tuesday, Musk said: “There’s a lot of merit to combining the companies.”Musk said that the board of directors for both of his businesses had put together special committees to explore the potential merger, but had not yet reached an agreement on the terms of the transaction. The move would require the approval of 50% of all Tesla shareholders. Tesla reported better-than-expected third-quarter earnings on Wednesday, with a reported revenue of $28.05bn and $0.48 on earnings per share. That beat Wall Street’s projections of $27.9bn in revenue, with $0.43 on earnings per share. Still, the company came in at a slightly lower revenue than last quarter, which was $28.23bn. And its automotive revenue dropped 3% from the year prior. “We maintained strong momentum on many projects spanning Super Intelligence (SI), robotics and renewable energy that will be critical to building a future of Amazing Abundance,” the company wrote in its report.

Seven 406-foot wind turbines stand bladeless six miles off the Irish coast after a jack-up barge climbed out of the sea on four legs and pulled 18 blades off them nine at a time, and their owner now wants the towers down too, warning the steel degrades faster e - Autonocion.com

Offshore wind is old enough now that the first farms are starting to wear out, and hardly anyone’s taken one apart yet. Denmark took down the 11 little turbines at Vindeby, the world’s first offshore wind farm, in 2017, and England cleared the two at Blyth in 2019. That’s pretty much the whole list of finished jobs. So the one sitting off the east coast of Ireland is interesting for a reason the industry would probably rather it wasn’t: it’s a 22-year-old wind farm that quit working, got half-dismantled, and is now waiting on paperwork to come down the rest of the way. If you’ve sailed past Arklow Bank in the last year, you’ve seen it. Seven steel towers, 406 feet to where the blade tips used to be, standing on a sandbank about six miles off County Wicklow with nothing turning on top of them. The blades came off in the summer of 2025. The towers, the nacelles (the boxes on top that hold the gearbox and generator), the monopiles under the water and roughly 14 miles of cable are all still out there.
