WeatherAccuWeather forecast for NYC, New York, New Jersey and ConnecticutByEyewitness News The Loop: Your live look at weather and trafficNEW YORK (WABC) -- Looking ahead to next week, temperatures moderate back into the 60s, closer to seasonal averages. However, a developing storm system off the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic coast will require monitoring. Current indications keep the storm far enough offshore to avoid a direct impact on the region, but it may occasionally increase winds near the coast and create concerns for minor to moderate coastal flooding and beach erosion. Overall, those away from the coast can expect a classic stretch of fall weather next week, featuring crisp mornings, seasonable afternoons, and plenty of opportunities to enjoy the autumn colors. PETS & ANIMALS“This tragedy... was 100% preventable," one wildlife expert said. A 16-month-old child was injured by a coyote in Atwater Village, where neighbors say earlier concerns went unaddressed. Monday, October 19, 2026 1:38AMATWATER VILLAGE, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Neighbors are questioning whether more could have been done to prevent a coyote from attacking and injuring a 16-month-old child in Atwater Village. According to the California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW), the encounter happened on Friday off Glenhurst Avenue. The child was treated at a local hospital and released. The coyote was later captured by wildlife officials and euthanized, CDFW said. Neighbor Jason Rosen said he was saddened to learn about the attack. “That really makes me really sad,” Rosen said. Rosen said he has previously seen coyotes in the area. “I’ve seen them around. I actually feel bad for them because, you know, they have nowhere to go," he said. "Our neighborhood is their neighborhood too. "It is unclear whether the euthanized animal was the same coyote that residents said they had seen in the neighborhood for months.

Drew Rasmussen shines as Rays beat Guardians in Game 5 to take a 3-2 ALCS lead
CLEVELAND — Drew Rasmussen allowed one run over seven innings for his second postseason win, Tampa Bay’s offense kept on constant pressure and the Rays beat the Guardians, 3-1, Sunday night to take a 3-2 lead in the AL Championship Series. The Rays will try to capture their third AL pennant and first since 2020 on Monday at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Fla. Since the ALCS expanded to seven games in 1985, road teams winning Game 5 for a 3-2 lead have won the series four of five times. Game 7 if needed would be Tuesday, and the World Series starts Friday at NL champion Milwaukee. Cleveland has not won an ALCS when trailing 3-2. Tampa Bay scored single runs in each of the first three innings, the first two off Parker Messick and the third against Tim Herrin. Rasmussen shut down the Guardians’ offense after allowing two runs over six innings in the opener. After Chase DeLauter’s two-out single in the first, the 31-year-old righthander retired nine straight batters and allowed only one other base runner through the sixth.
