Critical Broadcom Wi-Fi Flaw Exposes Routers To Takeover Without A Network Password - LinkedIn
Security researcher Quentin Kaiser has disclosed a vulnerability affecting Broadcom-based routers that can allow an unauthenticated attacker within Wi-Fi range to execute code on affected devices. His demonstrations included extracting a wireless password from an Orange Belgium gateway and obtaining a command shell on a Proximus router. Published on October 16, the research highlights a potentially significant exposure across networking equipment that incorporates Broadcom’s proprietary wireless software. Kaiser said the Belgian gateways he identified remained unpatched as of October 15. His original disclosure also records Broadcom’s response that a patch was available, making the distinction between an upstream remedy and protection on deployed equipment central to the case.
