Larissa Waters steps down as Greens leader due to ill health - The Guardian

Greens leader Larissa Waters has announced she will step down due to ill health, with a party room meeting expected within days to choose her successor. Waters revealed on Monday night she has been managing a pre-existing kidney disease, but that her health had “declined significantly over the course of recent months”. She said while her prognosis for recovery was positive, the pressure of the party’s leadership, including additional travel demands, was detracting from a focus on her health. Waters replaced Adam Bandt as Greens leader after the 2025 election, in which Bandt lost his lower house seat in a shock result. But some Greens members have expressed frustration with the party’s position under Waters, including its cut-through with voters as the major parties haemorrhage support to One Nation. Why This Strategist Is Wary of Entertainment Stocks - Morningstar

On the Sept. 28, 2026, episode of The Morning Filter podcast, hosts Susan Dziubinski and Morningstar Chief US Market Strategist Dave Sekera discuss a viewer question about entertainment industry stocks. Here is an excerpt from the show. Why We Don’t Like Entertainment StocksSusan Dziubinski: It is time for our question of the week. As a reminder, if you have a question for us, you can send it to our inbox, which is themorningfilter@morningstar.com. This week’s question comes from Carl. And Carl asks, “Dave, I’m hard-pressed to think of a time I’ve heard you talk about the entertainment industry. What do you think of the sector? Are there any stocks you’d recommend or recommend folks steer clear of?”David Sekera: From an investing point of view, you should never let your own personal biases influence your investing. Having said all that, I’m a bit of a hypocrite here, and I have let my own personal bias in this case probably steer me away from recommending some of the stocks in this industry. The reason being I’m just not a big fan of the dynamics from an investing point of view of the entertainment industry.

How AMD Ryzen AI Max PRO 400 Series Processors Bring Local Agentic AI to Business Customers - AMD

The advent of generative artificial intelligence has raised questions around commercial use cases, adoption, and ROI since the technology entered mainstream discourse in late 2022. As AI agents move towards broad deployment, companies face even greater pressure to answer them. Unlike genAI chatbots, which typically rely on a question-and-answer model, AI agents can carry out complex, multi-step tasks across different applications. When configured to do so, they can also take certain actions autonomously and work on complex projects for extended periods while the person who initiated the task focuses elsewhere.

MS Now political host Peter Alexander sharpening sports tools - Sports Business Journal

09.28.2026Longtime White House Correspondent Peter Alexander wrote two features for Golf Channel's Presidents Cup coverage. William B. Plowman/NBC via Getty MS Now host Peter Alexander made his Golf Channel debut last week at the Presidents Cup, but he says his sports work on Versant-owned channels won’t stop with golf. Alexander, the longtime White House correspondent for NBC who hosts “State of Play” on MS Now, wrote two features last week that aired on “Live From” around the Presidents Cup. Since its spinoff from NBCU, Versant has worked to create synergy and cross-promotion among its networks, including some golf events airing on CNBC. Alexander’s new role is another layer of this plan. “There’s just a lot of opportunities, and if I can add value with my passion for storytelling and sports, then that’s what I’m going to do,” Alexander said. Alexander, who grew up in the Bay Area, pointed to USA Sports’ agreement to carry the Pac-12 and his connection to the Golden State Valkyries and USA’s deal with the WNBA. “That’s what I’m excited about, if I’m honest,” he said.

I thought my team at Block had gotten too big, then I was laid off. My job search took months to turn around. - Business Insider

Sneh Hira spent months looking for a job after being laid off from Block. This as-told-to essay is based on a conversation with Sneh Hira, who joined Block's Afterpay business in 2022 and was laid off in February. She's in her early 40s and lives in Chicago. The following has been edited for length and clarity. I joined Block's Afterpay business in 2022 as an operations manager. When I went on maternity leave in May 2023, I was the only operations manager on my team. Over the course of the next several years, I noticed we were hiring more operations managers than the workload seemed to warrant. All the work that I'd been doing as one human was split across multiple people. Then one day in February of this year, I checked my email and learned I'd been laid off. I remember wondering if it was a joke, and everything that followed was a blur. I later learned that many other employees had been affected. Looking back, I thought the overhiring at Block and its efforts to integrate its different businesses may also have contributed to the layoffs. Once the initial shock wore off, I knew I needed to figure out what came next.
