Don’t let politics get in the way—it’s time to finalize the Canada-U.S. trade deal - The Hub | More Signal. Less Noise.

We end the week seemingly further from resolving the Canada-U. S. trade impasse than at virtually any point over the past 18 months, even as the basic contours of a deal appear within reach. That’s the maddening contradiction of the past seven days. Earlier this week, I questioned whether Prime Minister Mark Carney had walked away from an agreement that, on balance, might have been good for Canada. By his own account, the two sides had made important progress toward a deal that would preserve tariff-free access for the vast majority of Canadian exports and significantly reduce tariffs on steel, aluminum and autos. Businesses on both sides of the border would have gained a measure of certainty they’ve lacked for a year and a half.

I retired early at 40 and spent the last year following BTS around the world—'I feel a sincere sense of gratitude' - CNBC

Last year, I retired at 40. It's been a big adjustment, but there has been a constant during this transition: My love of the global music group BTS. By the end of 2027, I will have seen them perform 20 times, on three different continents. This wholehearted embrace of my fandom might not sound like the retirement goal of someone who has worked with hundreds of clients on their finances. But so many people focus solely on the amount of money they need to retire, that they never consider what they want their retirement to actually look like. BTS helped me envision this next step. Attending the shows gave me a specific activity in retirement, which made many of the money decisions easier for me. It also helped me realize that financial freedom isn't about accumulating as much money as possible, but having the flexibility to use my time as I see fit. We have enough saved for retirement that my husband AJ and I can comfortably live on about $6000/month. If you had told me 10 years ago when I was $300,000 in debt that this would be possible, I'm not sure that I would have believed it.

What If Science Led the Way in Literacy Instruction? - International Literacy Association

A current trend observed by our team and others in the field of elementary education involves an increased focus on knowledge building as an important part of literacy instruction. There is strong evidence to suggest that knowledge of the natural and social world positively influences students' reading comprehension beyond what listening comprehension, decoding, and vocabulary can explain. A focus on knowledge building in schools has great potential to support students' literacy development and overall learning. Many districts and publishers have attempted to address the role of knowledge building by integrating science topics into reading instruction. For example, ELA units might focus on reading about animal life cycles or learning about what plants need to thrive. If we think of content integration as a dance, this approach positions ELA goals such as increased genre knowledge, vocabulary, or sentence analysis as the lead with science serving in a background role.
