Some of the new laws could affect Canadians financially, such as the price of certain U. S. goods that will be impacted by Canada’s retaliatory tariffs. Other changes will affect international students looking to study in Canada.

The investor list makes this round more interesting than the headline number. Sony Music Group, Universal Music Group, Warner Music Group, Electronic Arts, AMD Ventures and Pacific Alliance Ventures are among the new backers. Existing investors Coatue, Greycroft and Kadmos Capital also participated, alongside Sean Parker and former Google CEO Eric Schmidt.
