Description
For decades, technology followed a simple bargain: every new gadget gave you more for your money. More storage. More memory. More performance. But that bargain is under pressure. As AI companies race to build data centres, they're consuming huge quantities of memory, causing a squeeze for consumer electronics like phones, laptops and gaming devices. The result is rising costs, manufacturers having to make difficult choices, and consumers to rethink when, and whether, to upgrade. We speak to supply chain expert Dr Vidya Mani and Francisco Jeronimo, Vice President for Data & Analytics at IDC, about the hidden connection between AI and consumer electronics, the memory crunch driving up prices, and why more people are holding onto their devices for longer. #dwcurrentaffairs For more news go to: http://www.dw.com/en/ Follow DW on social media: ►Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/dwnews ►TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@dwnews ►Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/deutschewellenews/ ►Twitter: https://twitter.com/dwnews ►Reddit: https://www.reddit.com/user/DWNews/ Für Videos in deutscher Sprache besuchen Sie: https://www.youtube.com/dwdeutsch Subscribe: https://www.youtube.com/user/deutschewelleenglish?sub_confirmation=1
