Android Auto Can Be Used Outside Of Your Car: Here's How - Engadget

A spare tablet, USB cable and $4 app can bring Android Auto to your desk or kitchen counter. My old Samsung Galaxy Tab had poor battery life, but still had enough juice to be a Google Home control panel. Then I came across an unusual use for it: Android Auto. Yes, the software intended for car dashboards can be used elsewhere with the right app.

The “toxic” 1980s actor Ron Howard and Jason Bateman both couldn’t stand working with - Far Out Magazine

Credit: Far Out / YouTube Still / Colleen Sturtevant Sat 17 October 2026 19:45, UK Since he’s always wanted to have a career like Ron Howard, it’s almost fitting that Jason Bateman worked with an actor neither of them could stand, and at around the same time, too. As a child actor who eventually segued into more adult roles, admittedly after a decade in the wilderness, before diversifying into directing, it makes perfect sense that Bateman views Howard as the blueprint, since few have managed to navigate that transition as successfully as the Happy Days veteran. If anything, it must have felt like kismet when they became collaborators on Arrested Development, allowing the star to tell the narrator and executive producer to his face that he’d spent his professional life dreaming of emulating his path from an on-camera nipper to a behind-the-camera force. One of the key lessons he took from Howard, as obvious as it sounds, was not to be a dick. Bateman had his demons, and he battled them successfully, but it was watching the two-time Academy Award winner’s kind, compassionate demeanour that convinced him if he ever made it back to the big time, he’d try to be a nice guy.

AirPods 5 vs AirPods Pro 3: Is the Pro Worth $100 More? - Memeburn

For most iPhone owners the better buy is the AirPods 5 with Wireless Charging Case at $149, because it brings noise cancellation, IP57 durability and Apple’s newest software features to an open-fit earbud for $100 less than the AirPods Pro 3. The AirPods Pro 3 at $249 still win on noise cancellation, battery life, bass and health features, and the gap matters less than it looks once the Pro 3 is discounted, since Memeburn’s calculation shows the Pro 3 become the cheaper source of noise-cancelled listening time at any price below about $238. The choice comes down to whether you can wear silicone ear tips comfortably and how far below $249 the AirPods Pro 3 are selling on the day you buy. Kane and Olise were potent up front as well. That’s all, folks. Thanks a bunch for staying with us. The big one is up next: a home match against Arsenal. Bayern did beat them 1-0 before but that was under much different circumstances. Can the Bavarians win it? Maybe, but we’ll have to find out in a few days. Speak to you all in a bit.90+4’ — Full time!90+3’ — Urbig saves twice to deny Leipzig.90+2’ — Goal. Bayern somehow lets one in.90’ — Boey shoots weakly at Vandevoordt. Maple Leafs centre John Tavares out week-to-week with lower-body injury - CP24

SportsPublished: October 17, 2026 at 2:34p.m. EDTMaple Leafs centre John Tavares (91) lies on the ice after an awkward collision with Buffalo Sabres counterpart Josh Norris (9) in Toronto on Thursday, Oct. 15, 2026. THE CANADIAN PRESS/Nathan Denette The Maple Leafs will have to get used to life minus another key piece. The club announced Saturday before facing the New York Islanders that John Tavares is out week-to-week with a lower-body injury. Toronto added that the timeline designation means the veteran centre could miss up to six weeks. Tavares has two goals and five assists in seven games this season. The 36-year-old was involved in an awkward collision with Buffalo Sabres opposite Josh Norris in Thursday’s 5-4 overtime loss at Scotiabank Arena. Norris was bumped by Maple Leafs forward Nick Paul in the defensive zone before sliding into Tavares, who crumpled to the ice and stayed down before being helped to the locker room. Toronto was already dealing with the loss of veteran shutdown defenceman Chris Tanev. The 36-year-old remains out week-to-week with an upper-body injury suffered in last Saturday’s 6-3 road victory over the Colorado Avalanche.

Missed Detections and False Alarms in a CNN Technosignature Detector on Breakthrough Listen Data - Astrobiology Web

Grad-CAM autopsy at an amplitude of 4.0. (a) Q2_bright_hit: D1-3 S-shaped, detected. (b) Q2c_bright_mis: D1-1 extreme drift, missed. Columns: input, Grad-CAM map, and CAM difference (injected minus clean). Inputs are shown as the detector sees them: the three ON panels side by side, with frequency running vertically; white lines mark panel boundaries and the green line the injection’s starting channel. -- [astro-ph. A Black Hole 12,000 Light-Years Away Is Firing a Plasma Jet Toward Earth - Gadget Review

Milky Way’s first microblazar candidate sits 12,000 light-years away, offering a rare ground-level lab for studying relativistic jetsA black hole 12,000 light-years away is firing a jet of plasma almost directly toward Earth. At that distance, no known or expected danger to Earth has been identified by the researchers or the institutions involved. What astronomers have actually found is rarer and more interesting than a threat. Researchers have identified IRAS 18293-0941 as a compelling candidate for the Milky Way’s first microblazar, a class of object that gives astrophysicists a close-up laboratory for studying some of the most violent physics in the galaxy. What Astronomers FoundThe discovery centers on a binary system whose black hole expels plasma jets at close to three-quarters the speed of light, pointed almost directly toward Earth. The system pairs a hot, massive star with a black hole that completes a full orbit roughly every 11.38 days. Material drawn from the companion star feeds the black hole, and some of that matter gets expelled outward as opposing jets traveling at approximately three-quarters the speed of light. Terminology matters here.
