What to know about the deadly U.K. tiger attack — and the 'offensive' video shared by Trump - CBC

The family of a man mauled to death by a tiger at a U. K. wildlife park on Saturday is pleading with people to stop sharing footage of the attack online, calling it "deeply offensive" and painful. The statement from the family of 24-year-old William Chapman came after U. S. President Donald Trump shared a clip of the fatal attack on his Truth Social platform Tuesday, writing "don't ever mess with nature! "The 41-second video shared by Trump shows a large tiger repeatedly biting and clawing at Chapman. Trump's post was then shared by the White House's Rapid Response account on X, where commenters called it "sick" and "disgusting. "The U. S. president later posted an apparently AI-generated video depicting himself taming a tiger and then playing with it, accompanied by the song The Lion Sleeps Tonight. His social media posts have sparked outrage, but they have also raised questions about how the tragedy happened. Here's what we know about the tiger attack and the man who died. Where did this happen? The attack happened on Saturday in a tiger enclosure at Yorkshire Wildlife Park near Doncaster in northern England. The popular conservation and welfare park opened in 2009.

2 ships ablaze off Romanian Black Sea coast, search on for missing sailors - National - Global News

Rescuers were searching for seven missing crew on Thursday from one of two chemical tankers that caught fire overnight just outside Romanian territorial waters in the Black Sea, after Russian drones strayed into national airspace, Romanian officials said. Romanian President Nicusor Dan said the two ships had been struck by drones but declined to say whether they were Russian. “Two air drones hit them,” Dan told reporters in Brussels ahead of a summit of EU leaders, adding only a few hours had elapsed since the strikes, and Romania was waiting for more information. “There will be a reaction from the Romanian state,” he added. The two ships hit overnight were both anchored in the Black Sea near the mouth of the Sulina canal leading into the Danube River, a major shipping route used by Ukraine as Russia has attacked Ukraine’s own Black Sea ports. One was in Romanian waters, the other just outside. Story continues below advertisement

He did not name the United States and President Donald Trump has denied that Washington has stopped sharing intelligence.

Trump’s ambassadors: the loyalists and allies at the center of controversy - The Guardian

Donald Trump has appointed family members, friends and loyal political allies to represent the US on the world stage, dispatching an extraordinary array of characters to embassies across the world. While presidents of both parties have long rewarded donors and allies with plum ambassadorships, Trump has chosen loyalists willing to go to bat for him regardless of the implications for US-foreign relationships. The ousting of Kimberly Guilfoyle as US ambassador to Greece has renewed the spotlight on individuals appointed by the US president to such roles during his second term – from an election denier to a former auctioneer. She is just the latest Trump-era ambassador to become embroiled in scandal, and face resistance. Kimberly GuilfoyleGreeceKimberly Guilfoyle, a conservative personality and former politician, began serving as the ambassador to Greece in November 2025. She stepped down from her role in October after allegations of corruption. Guilfoyle was made ambassador to Greece shortly after the end of her engagement to Donald Trump Jr, the president’s son.

Terry Glavin: The NATO penny has begun to drop. Trump's on the other side - Yahoo News Canada

As a high-level strategic military paradigm, the NATO high command's "theory of victory" certainly gives the impression of being a serious bit of warcraft, just by its title. It purports to be a theory that anticipates the measures required to achieve victory in the event of an attack on any of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization's 32 member states. Adopted last month, an unclassified version of the elaborate war-gaming formulae was outlined on Monday by the Supreme Allied Commander in Europe, Gen. Alexus Grynkewich, at the Warsaw Security Forum. All the generals and the heads of state and defence ministers at the summit would have been well aware that the high command's "theory of victory" might just as well be understood as a work of speculative fiction. For one thing, Russia is not mentioned, although any discussion of the "theory of victory" inevitably turns to Russia and the scenario of an invasion of Poland and the Baltic states via Belarus and the Russian exclave of Kaliningrad. While the Warsaw conference was underway, 20,000 troops were engaged in a 10-day war game simulating a hypothetical invasion of 10,000 troops from the east.

Ukraine resumes strikes on Russian refineries as Zelensky says ‘we’re done’ - The Globe and Mail

Open this photo in gallery:Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reacts during a meeting with Britain's Prime Minister Andy Burnham in London, on Wednesday. Henry Nicholls/ReutersUkraine struck a Russian oil refinery on Thursday after President Volodymyr Zelensky declared that Kyiv was abandoning a ceasefire covering energy sites announced by US President Donald Trump, and criticized Trump’s willingness to strike deals with Moscow. By effectively walking away from Trump’s demand that Ukraine halt attacks on Russian refineries and openly criticizing the US leader, Zelensky risks deepening the biggest rift between Kyiv and Washington since Russia’s February 2022 invasion of Ukraine.
