Trump Slams Ukraine’s Oil Strikes as Russia Keeps Bombing - Kyiv Post
US President Donald Trump called Ukraine’s renewed strikes on Russian oil refineries a “disgrace” and accused Kyiv of driving up global energy prices, even as Moscow continued attacking Ukrainian energy infrastructure. “Well, I think that’s a disgrace,” Trump told Newsmax in an interview published Thursday, Oct. 15, when asked about Ukraine’s decision to resume attacks on Russian refineries. JOIN US ON TELEGRAMFollow our coverage of the war on the @Kyivpost_official. However, energy analysts say Trump’s deal to resume Russian diesel exports is unlikely to significantly lower fuel prices, as the main driver of the global price surge has been the US-Israel war with Iran, which has disrupted oil shipments through the Strait of Hormuz. Trump also renewed his criticism of President Volodymyr Zelensky, portraying him as a greater obstacle to ending Russia’s war against Ukraine than Russian President Vladimir Putin. “It should end soon. I think they actually both would like to see it end,” Trump said.

'I'm not a big fan of Zelensky,' Trump says as US-Ukraine tensions deepen - The Kyiv Independent
U. S. President Donald Trump criticized President Volodymyr Zelensky in an interview with Newsmax published on Oct. 15, describing the Ukrainian president as "not a good guy for (the U. S.) to deal with. ""Zelensky's not a good guy for us to deal with," Trump said, claiming that the Ukrainian president does not want to help bring an end to the Russia-Ukraine war. "He says he wants to settle, but he doesn't. I'm not a big fan of Zelensky. They've destroyed that country," the U. S. president said, criticizing the Obama and Biden administrations for their handling of the war, including the 2014 Russian annexation of Crimea. Trump's comments came in response to a question on whether Trump asked Zelensky to halt Ukrainian attacks on Russian oil refineries. Earlier in the day on Oct. 15, Zelensky lifted restrictions on Ukraine's strikes against Russian oil refineries after Russia continued to strike Ukraine's energy infrastructure over the past days. The latest comments from Trump come amid deepening tensions between the two leaders. The Ukraine-U. S.

US probes Ilhan Omar’s decades-old immigration paperwork with eye towards deportation, sources say - The Straits Times
WASHINGTON – A pre-dawn raid on Democratic Representative Ilhan Omar’s home by federal agents stemmed from an expanding investigation into her US immigration paperwork, three sources familiar with the case said in October. The investigation appears to centre on whether the Somali-born Omar, who has represented a Minnesota district since 2019, or her relatives gave false information upon entering the US as refugees in the mid-1990s or during the process of becoming American citizens. The sealed warrant for the search on Oct 12 listed conspiracy, false statements on immigration paperwork and immigration fraud as potential crimes being investigated, one of the sources familiar with the matter said. Like the others, they spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss an ongoing investigation. One of the sources familiar with the probe told Reuters that one potential aim could be to strip Omar of her US citizenship and deport her, ideas that both US President Donald Trump and his Homeland Security chief have floated.

Ukrainian drones reportedly strike Yandex data center, warehouses in overnight attack on Russia - The Kyiv Independent
Editor's Note: This is a developing story and is being updated. Ukrainian forces appeared to strike multiple targets across Russia's Moscow, Rostov, and Vladimir regions in a widespread drone attack overnight on Oct. 16. The Kyiv Independent can not independently verify attack targets or damage at this time. According to monitoring channels ExileNova+ and SuperNova+, Russian technology giant Yandex's data center in Vladimir Oblast, around 500 kilometers (310 miles) from the Ukrainian border, was targeted in the overnight operation. Footage from residents at the scene shows large explosions and air defense systems operating around residential buildings. Following strikes on the same Yandex site on Oct. 11, the company announced operations at the data center had been completely shut down. That strike marked the third near-consecutive day of attacks on Yandex data centers in Russia, following confirmed strikes in Ryazan and Kaluga oblasts on Oct. 8 and 9. The string of attacks on Russian data centers follows President Volodymyr Zelensky's statement that Ukraine would retaliate in kind to Russian strikes on Ukrainian internet infrastructure.
