For refinances and other uninsurable mortgages, the lowest rate has climbed to 4.64 per cent from 4.24 per cent over the same period. The Métis Nation of Ontario is seeking input from Métis-owned businesses to better understand how U. S. tariffs, changing trade conditions, and broader economic uncertainty are affecting businesses across Ontario. The MNO’s Economic Development Branch has launched a short survey for MNO citizens who own or operate businesses in Ontario. The survey was developed following a request from Kathleen Anderson, PCMNO Economic Development Portfolio Holder, to better understand what Métis-owned businesses are experiencing and what supports may be needed. The survey asks business owners about the impacts they are currently experiencing, what they anticipate in the months ahead, and the types of support that would be most helpful. Businesses are invited to share whether they have experienced challenges such as increased costs, supply-chain disruptions, reduced sales or customer demand, difficulties accessing U. S. markets, workforce impacts, cash-flow pressures, or uncertainty when making business decisions.
Oct 14, 2026By Diego FlamminiAssistant Editor, North American Content, Farms.comFour Dairy Business Innovation Centers will be responsible to match 25 percent of federal fundingMembers of the U. S. dairy industry are worried about how new federal directives could affect business development in the sector. Close to 30 state and agriculture and dairy organizations wrote to Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins to express concern over a new rule regarding Dairy Business Innovation (DBI) Initiatives which bridge the gap between industry ideas and specialized expertise and resources. Hansen’s Dairy in Hudson, Iowa, for example, received support to purchase a new bottle-filler and cheese press. And Milkhaus Dairy in Fennimore, Wis., received funding to conduct a feasibility study on product and market opportunities. The new rule beginning in fiscal year 2026 would see the four regional centers (University of Tennessee, Vermont Agency of Agriculture, Food & Markets, University of Wisconsin, and California State University, Fresno) be responsible for matching 25 percent of federal funding up to $1 million.
