Lenders Are Getting Nervous About CoreWeave. I'd Still Buy Nvidia Stock. - The Motley Fool

Lenders are getting nervous about CoreWeave (CRWV -11.95%), a cloud company that rents out artificial intelligence (AI) chips made by Nvidia (NVDA -1.36%). In June, CoreWeave sold $1.25 billion in unsecured notes due 2032 at face value, with a 9.625% coupon. On Tuesday, Oct. 13, the yield on these notes reportedly reached almost 15% before ending at a record of around 14.5%. A bond's yield climbs when the price drops. Put another way, bond buyers now want much more to lend to CoreWeave than they did four months ago. The stock followed on Wednesday. CoreWeave shares dropped about 15% as of this writing, and Nvidia, which is both CoreWeave's chip supplier and one of its shareholders, fell about 3% to roughly $221. Should Nvidia investors worry? I don't think so -- at least not about CoreWeave itself. What Nvidia directly has riding on CoreWeave turns out to be small next to what the chipmaker earns. CoreWeave's borrowing problemCoreWeave's trouble doesn't seem to be demand. Showing how quickly the business is still growing, CoreWeave's second-quarter revenue more than doubled year over year to around $2.6 billion.

No Admittance Except on Business - www.e-flux.com

TurkeyWorkplaces are among the most central yet least visible spaces of everyday life. These spaces, where the relationship between capital and labor is reproduced every day, often remain outside the public eye as closed spaces to which there is “no admittance except on business.”Once a symbol of industrial capitalism with its chimneys rising above city centers, the factory largely lost its urban visibility after 1980, as production was reorganized on a global scale. As manufacturing facilities in city centers gave way to residential projects, shopping centers, and cultural venues, production moved to the outskirts of cities, Organized Industrial Zones, and new infrastructural geographies where logistics networks converge. Yet spaces of production extend beyond the physical boundaries of the factory. Constantly changing in form and scale, they transform the earth, everyday life, and digital space into a continuous field of work. Salt’s new exhibition No Admittance Except on Business suggests reading production across different scales: the worker’s body, the “workplace” where the labor-capital relationship is constituted, the urban space, and global networks of circulation.

What's on Zuck's desk? A new model and a few subtle flexes. - Business Insider

Mark Zuckerberg shared a snapshot of his work desk. We snooped around. Ever wondered on a random Thursday afternoon what the chief executive of Meta might keep on his desk at the HQ? I'm glad you asked. Mark Zuckerberg posted a photo of his office desk to announce the release of Muse Spark Open, which lets you run a model with a fairly simple desktop setup. The company calls it "the most capable US open-weight model to date" and has teamed up with Apple to enable it to run on two M5 Ultra Mac Studios. But never mind that; let's focus on the physical workspace. Since this Muse is supposed to be so smart, I wanted to see how easily it could identify the objects on Zuckerberg's desk. Two things immediately popped out to me: the black trinket on the right and the graffiti on the desk. Yeah, sure, there's whatever is on Zuckerberg's screen, which might provide a hint on what the CEO is working on as he steers a nearly $2 trillion company. But we don't want to know that, right? Here's what the Muse agent caught — and what it needed help identifying.

Warsh won’t prejudge rest of 2026, names October and December as decision points - investingLive

With no guidance from the chair, short-dated Treasuries and the dollar will take their lead from data before the 27–28 October meeting, which points to bigger reactions to releases. His comment that events have broadly matched expectations leans slightly hawkish, since the September projections pointed to another hike this year. Oil remains a key input: fuel-driven inflation tied to the Iran war is the main source of upside price pressure, so moves in crude will feed directly into hike pricing. A hawkish-leaning Fed has tended to weigh on gold rather than support it.---Earlier, Hammack no so reticent on forward guidance:Fed's Hammack questions whether Fed policy is tight enough as inflation risks build--- Warsh came to Bangkok and said, in effect, watch the data, not me, which is exactly what he has been promising to do.

‘People’s dignity, and democracy, is at stake’: meet the economist ditching ideology for reality - The Guardian

The trouble with economists, Isabella Weber believes, is they do not behave like dentists. They obsess over ideological purity and are inflexible when searching for solutions, regardless of society’s symptoms. Dentists have no such pretensions – patients have little patience for dogma when in insufferable pain. John Maynard Keynes, Weber clarifies in the canteen of the Wissenschaftskolleg zu Berlin (Berlin’s Institute for Advanced Study), was the first to draw this dental comparison – and she is running with it. As she sees it, the symptoms could not be more severe. “The status quo for the majority is entirely unbearable,” while extreme inequality and corporate concentration has reached levels “simply incompatible with democracy” worldwide. This is exacerbated by a climate crisis that “generates massive windfall profits” for big business as the “ecological foundations of our lives disintegrate”. All the while the far right is making hay. This analysis echoes much mainstream liberal and left-leaning thinking. But Weber is concerned that her peers in the economic establishment act as if they are oblivious.

WTI Outpaces Brent as U.S. Crude Draw Ignites Fresh Buying - Crude Oil Prices Today | OilPrice.com

Crude Oil Rallies as U. S. Inventory Draw Outruns Supply ReliefNovember WTI crude oil futures are up sharply for the week through Thursday night. The gain did not come from one headline. The market has spent the week dealing with tanker attacks near the Strait of Hormuz, renewed attacks on Russian refineries, emergency stock releases and fresh talk of legal oil moving on previously sanctioned vessels. The release and shipping headlines gave both sides of the trade something to work with. WTI got the stronger bid when the EIA reported a large U. S. crude draw. Brent held above $100 but could not add to its risk premium. At 21:38 GMT Thursday, November WTI crude oil futures are trading at $97.58, up $5.92 or +6.46% for the week. The contract has traded between $89.61 and $98.32. December Brent crude oil futures are trading near $106 a barrel. The EIA Report Put WTI in FrontThe EIA reported that U. S. crude inventories fell by 8.6 million barrels in the week ended October 9. Traders had expected a draw of only 288,000 barrels. Commercial crude inventories stood at 415.6 million barrels after the draw, still 3% above the five-year average. That is not a supply squeeze.

Elon Musk just unveiled a Tesla Roadster that flies — take a look - Business Insider

Your browser does not support the video element. The Roadster has, at long last, taken off — quite literally. Tesla unveiled its next-generation Roadster at a livestreamed event Thursday night, giving customers who have waited years their first fresh look at the EV maker's new halo car. In a dramatic demonstration, the Roadster traveled up a huge curved ramp until it was upside down. The car then flew off the ramp, flipped, and landed safely on the ground, thanks to thrusters attached to the bottom of the vehicle.
