The Traitors: New Blood Recap: The Fruit Toss of Doom - Vulture

It’s a shame that one of the season’s more annoying Faithfuls is the one who actually stumbles onto the Traitors’ trail. If you’re wondering why The Traitors: New Blood seems much more rushed than a typical American Traitors season, it’s because it is! We are losing 18 to 28 minutes per week due to the shift from Peacock to NBC, and I am grumpy about it. This is why I don’t feel like I understand the ties between the players and why the annoying ones take up so much space! Did it take my sister-in-law mentioning this for me to realize it? Yes. I’m the youngest child; I just go along with things.

The Kelly Clarkson bird saga continues. Molly is worth $15 million - Los Angeles Times

The Kelly Clarkson wooden bird feud continues to soar as the New York City novelty shop accused of disrespecting the “Voice” star sets a whopping $15 million price for the hand-cranked singing automata bird. The one-of-a-kind chirping bird, known as Molly, is at the center of a media frenzy after shop owners at Art of Play — a high-end “curiosity shop” in Brooklyn that sells luxury playing cards, puzzles and other amusements — refused to part ways with the permanent fixture after a sale inquiry from Clarkson led to an alleged un-pheasant interaction she later called out online. Now it appears that shop owners are changing their perch — and price point — with shop co-owner Adam Rubin confirming to NBC News that Molly is now valued at $15 million. Rubin told the news outlet that if the business parts ways with the wooden puppet, store employees will receive a $15,000 bonus and the bird’s artist, Bliss Kolb of Seattle, will receive $1 million. The store would also use the profits to build a display dedicated to Molly. But it appears that the bickering feud is not over yet.

Demi Lovato shares emotional update on eating disorder recovery - Central Oregon Daily

Demi Lovato has come a long way with their eating disorder recovery, but the journey is far from over. The Grammy-nominated singer and Disney Channel alum opened up about their efforts in an interview on the "Street You Grew Up On" podcast, released Wednesday, Oct. 14. "I've been to treatment several times," Lovato told host Kerry Washington. "I can say that today, I'm not in a place where I look at myself as fully healed. I don't think that that's something that I even think about striving towards because it doesn't seem realistic. I think that food is going to be a battle for the rest of my life, but it's a manageable battle. "Lovato, 34, has previously been candid about their yearslong struggles with body image and disordered eating. The "Camp Rock" star checked into an in-patient treatment facility at age 18 to deal with "physical and emotional issues," including bulimia. Despite the singer's attempts at recovery, Lovato's medical conditions persisted. In 2020, the pop star reflected in an interview with Ashley Graham that their eating disorder had morphed into a fixation on "extreme dieting" and over-exercising.

Martin Short speaks out on 'heartbreak' of daughter's death by suicide - Central Oregon Daily

As Martin Short fights the stigma against suicide, he has shared the "devastating" impact of his daughter's death earlier this year. Speaking at Selena Gomez's fourth annual Rare Impact Fund Benefit in Los Angeles on Oct. 14, the "Father of the Bride" actor, 76, admitted that "It has been a very difficult year for me," according to People. The February death of his eldest daughter, 42-year-old Katherine Hartley Short, by suicide "has been the heartbreak of our family, as you can imagine," he added. In the past eight months, he said, his family has come to understand that mental illness – like cancer, which his late wife Nancy Dolman Short battled until her death in August 2010 – is a disease. "They are diseases, and sometimes diseases are terminal," he told the fundraiser's attendees. Hartley Short, who died Feb. 23, was a licensed clinical social worker who specialized in adoption, anxiety, depression, personality disorders, grief and loss, suicidality and relationship difficulties. Throughout her career, she was devoted to "promoting open, compassionate conversations about mental health," Short explained.

David Surkamp, Pavlov's Dog singer and cofounder, dies at 73 - Central Oregon Daily

David Surkamp, frontman of progressive rock band Pavlov's Dog, has died. He was 73. The band's violinist and mandolinist Abbie Steiling announced the news in a heartfelt tribute on social media on Oct. 14. The cause of death has not been disclosed. "It is with the heaviest of hearts that we share the unexpected passing of our creative force, lead singer, and dear friend, David Surkamp, on October 13," Steiling wrote. "David leaves behind a legacy of endless creativity, unmistakable artistry, and a body of music that has touched lives across generations and around the world. But anyone who knew and loved him knows that his legacy reaches far beyond the songs. "Steiling described Surkamp as having "a profoundly poetic spirit and a romantic heart that found its way into every note, every lyric, and every performance. His music was deeply emotive, reaching straight into the hearts of listeners, giving voice to longing, to love, to beauty, and to the bittersweet ache of it all. ""He always allowed the musicians around him to shine in their strengths, generous with the spotlight and appreciative of what each brought to the music," the post continued.

Netflix dumps the person responsible for pretty much all its TV shows and movies over the last few years - A.V. Club

Earlier this week, we reported that Netflix—one of the most successful streaming companies on the planet—was apparently not successful enough, announcing that it was going to be laying off about 6 percent of its workforce, a number totaling about 1,000 jobs. And while the full scope of these “focused choices” is still being understood, we do know at least one name that’s been chucked on the pile: Bela Bejaria, who, as Netflix’s chief content officer since 2023, has been the head of all of its creative endeavors for years, responsible for green-lighting basically everything to go up on its TUDUM-blasting servers. That tenure has come in for a lot of criticism lately, admittedly, despite Bejaria having gotten the job by shepherding shows like Bridgerton and Squid Game into the public consciousness. In more recent years, it’s been less “surprise hits” than general mockery, though, as Netflix movies have become synonymous with low-rent, attention-span-disrespecting fare that might have once gone direct-to-DVD, while its TV shows struggle to maintain a life past the first flurry of release-day clicks.
