Alright everyone, it’s time for WWE Smackdown. We’re on the heels of Money in the Bank which was kind of a giant nothing burger, doubly so on the Smackdown side of things as there wasn’t a Smackdown match on the event. But Tiffany Stratton and Penta won the briefcases, so now we’re doing another friend turning slow burn on the women’s side of things. On RAW that’s what Liv Morgan and Roxanne Perez are doing, and have been doing for ages now, while on Smackdown now we get to look forward to Tiffany turning on WWE women’s champion Chelsea Green. Penta was a good choice for the men’s briefcase, though the Smackdown main event scene is packed right now and moving him over might be a logistical error if he does cash in on Sami Zayn. We’ve got to build to Crown Jewel quickly, and hope the Riyadh airport doesn’t get bombed again, so expect some more champion vs. champion stuff. Though Liv vs. Green and Roman Reigns vs. Sami don’t feel like super important matches, but maybe that’s just me being incredibly jaded. Tonight Nikki Bella gets to rematch Paige and Nikki trying for a title run in 2026 is just divine punishment aimed at wrestling.

WWE SmackDown results, review, grades for Oct. 16: Cody Rhodes punts Baron Corbin as Randy Orton watches - CBS Sports

Orton is in more trouble than he realized as the two top stars continue to feud Randy Orton may have underestimated how badly Cody Rhodes wants to hurt him. On WWE SmackDown, Rhodes took his anger out on Baron Corbin, tapping into a darkness Orton didn't know he had. Orton and Rhodes have been feuding since before WrestleMania. In April, Orton legitimately shattered Rhodes' face with a punt. Rhodes has teased returning the favor over the last few weeks. Orton didn't believe that his former pupil had it in him, but he should re-evaluate after Rhodes' actions on Friday. Elsewhere on WWE SmackDown, Sami Zayn feels control of the undisputed WWE championship slipping away from him. Penta is an immediate threat after winning Money in the Bank. Zayn tried to steer Penta toward world heavyweight champion Roman Reigns and used Rey Fenix as a pawn in his plan. CBS Sports was with you all night with recaps and highlights of all the action from Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, California. TikTok “Permanently Bans” the ‘Musk’ Film Account, Raising Suppression Fears (Exclusive) - The Hollywood Reporter

TikTok has banned the entire Musk film account, citing political content that violates its policies. The move, which comes just as the Alex Gibney’s investigation into Elon Musk expands to more than 470 screens across North America, raises concerns about Big Tech suppression that the very film seeks to expose. Distributor Bleecker Street was informed Friday afternoon a “permanent suspension” was coming. The entire page disappeared from TikTok’s platform shortly after. The film company had been planning to spend ad money to boost certain posts; that will no longer happen. A spokesperson for the distributor confirmed that TikTok reps had informed them of the suspension and noted “disappointment” in the timing. After grossing $70,000 in four theaters in New York and Los Angeles in its first weekend of release, Musk is now playing in dozens of cities this weekend. The spokesperson said the company is in the process of appealing the move; even a reversal, however, could still prove costly if it doesn’t come during a weekend window when many people are likely to see the film.

10 Most Disappointing TV Show Cancellations Of All Time, Ranked - TVLine

If the streaming age of corporate consolidation and disposable TV has taught us anything, it's not to get too attached to any show, regardless of how great it is. A landscape that treats series as bingeable content doesn't always have the patience for slow thematic development, subtle character writing, or weird stylistic swings. It's never been uncommon for truly great shows to fail because of clashes between the network and the creative team, a failure to market the story correctly, simple time-slot mismanagement, or some infuriating combination of all three. Modern versions of these same problems still persist, though in the context of a more prestigious streaming landscape. These programs can command blockbuster budgets and rely on the schedules of A-list talent, all while facing cancellation decisions driven by often inscrutable performance metrics.
