Marsch sees room for CanMNT to improve after loss to USA: ‘We’re not quite there yet’ - TSN
Jesse Marsch wants to see more from Canada’s men’s soccer team. While the head coach liked much of what the squad displayed in their first games following this summer’s World Cup, at the end of the international window, he told the group there’s still ample work to be done. “My message to the team was that the performance was good. It was like a seven-and-a-half, maybe pushing toward an eight, right?” Marsch said on Tuesday after the Canadians fell 1-0 to the United States in a friendly matchup in St. Paul, Minn. “I don’t want to be overly critical because I think there’s a lot of good going on. It’s just you’d like to see a team on the pitch that’s more decisive and ready to take moments. And we’re not quite there yet.”It’s been a historic year for Marsch and his team. Canada earned its first win in a men’s World Cup when it thumped Qatar 6-0 in Vancouver, then took its first win in the tournament’s knockout round, defeating South Africa 1-0 in the round of 32. The storybook run ended with Morocco taking a 3-0 victory in the round of 16.

CanMNT Talk: Jesse Marsch's men in fine form in win vs. Peru - TFC Republic
In the latest TFC Republic video blog, we examine Canada's performance in its victory over Peru in Montreal. MONTREAL – The Canadian men's team couldn't ask for a much better start to the latest FIFA international window. Canada made it two shutout wins in a row over South American opposition with a 2-0 victory over Peru on Saturday at Stade Saputo courtesy of Jacob Shaffelburg's first-half brace. Toronto FC defender Richard Chukwu, still only 18, earned his first start in his second appearance for Canada, while coach Jesse Marsch also handed national team debuts to Owen Goodman, Justin Smith and Luca Petrasso. "These are two matches now, against Chile and against Peru, where we walk away feeling like we should score multiple goals, right? Because the identity and the clarity and the talent on the pitch is at a high level, and so we're able to control matches and make teams look bad and make them make it look like they never have a chance in the match," Marsch said. A report presented to the Guelph Police Service Board on Thursday details the scale of the Sept. 26 gathering on Chancellor’s Way. Police responded to approximately 550 incidents across Guelph that Saturday, including about 250 directly related to Homecoming.
