Jesse Marsch rocks boat again ahead of Canada’s date with USMNT on TSN - TSN
Jesse Marsch has never shied from the spotlight. Throughout his 15-year management career, Marsch has routinely spoken his mind, even when, perhaps, staying silent might be the better course of action. Unafraid of any potential blowback, Marsch is a reporter’s dream, always ready to offer a controversial soundbite. It should come as no surprise, then, that ahead of Canada’s friendly with the United States on Tuesday night in St. Paul, Marsch has once again made himself the lightning rod during a period of frayed ties between the traditional allies. You can catch Canada vs. the United States LIVE on Tuesday night with pre-game coverage getting underway at 7pm ET/4pm PT ahead of an 8pm ET/5pm PT kick-off on TSN1, TSN.ca and the TSN App. In a wide-ranging interview with The Guardian’s Joe Callaghan, Marsch directed some vitriol towards the nation of his birth and its soccer program. That’s nothing new for the native of Racine, Wis. The 52-year-old Marsch has never hidden his dislike for U. S. Soccer after he believes he was close to becoming the USMNT manager in 2023.

Piette takes spotlight as Canada hosts Peru in Montreal Saturday on TSN - TSN
When Canada hosted Chile last week at Toronto’s BMO Field, the match acted as a farewell to a program stalwart. Brampton, Ont.’s David “Junior” Hoilett made his 70th and final appearance for Canada in the 1-0 win. The game was a celebration of his contributions to the national team and a chance to say goodbye in a stadium only a short drive away from his hometown. On Saturday afternoon in Montreal, another CanMNT veteran will be honoured, yet whether or not it’s a goodbye remains to be seen. Le Gardeur, Que.’s Samuel Piette is set to receive his 70th cap when the CanMNT team welcomes Peru at Stade Saputo. The long-time CF Montreal defender will get his flowers the way Hoilett did, but their circumstances aren’t identical. You can catch Canada vs. Peru LIVE from Montreal’s Stade Saputo on Saturday on TSN4/5, TSN.ca and the TSN App with coverage getting underway at 1pm ET/10am PT ahead of a 2pm ET/11am PT kick-off. While Hoilett is 36 and currently without a club after his short-term deal with Swindon Town expired in the summer, Piette turns 32 next month and has been a regular contributor to CFMTL this season.

Marsch sees room for CanMNT to improve after loss to USA: ‘We’re not quite there yet’ - TSN
Jesse Marsch wants to see more from Canada’s men’s soccer team. While the head coach liked much of what the squad displayed in their first games following this summer’s World Cup, at the end of the international window, he told the group there’s still ample work to be done. “My message to the team was that the performance was good. It was like a seven-and-a-half, maybe pushing toward an eight, right?” Marsch said on Tuesday after the Canadians fell 1-0 to the United States in a friendly matchup in St. Paul, Minn. “I don’t want to be overly critical because I think there’s a lot of good going on. It’s just you’d like to see a team on the pitch that’s more decisive and ready to take moments. And we’re not quite there yet.”It’s been a historic year for Marsch and his team. Canada earned its first win in a men’s World Cup when it thumped Qatar 6-0 in Vancouver, then took its first win in the tournament’s knockout round, defeating South Africa 1-0 in the round of 32. The storybook run ended with Morocco taking a 3-0 victory in the round of 16.

CanMNT Talk: Jesse Marsch's men in fine form in win vs. Peru - TFC Republic
In the latest TFC Republic video blog, we examine Canada's performance in its victory over Peru in Montreal. MONTREAL – The Canadian men's team couldn't ask for a much better start to the latest FIFA international window. Canada made it two shutout wins in a row over South American opposition with a 2-0 victory over Peru on Saturday at Stade Saputo courtesy of Jacob Shaffelburg's first-half brace. Toronto FC defender Richard Chukwu, still only 18, earned his first start in his second appearance for Canada, while coach Jesse Marsch also handed national team debuts to Owen Goodman, Justin Smith and Luca Petrasso. "These are two matches now, against Chile and against Peru, where we walk away feeling like we should score multiple goals, right? Because the identity and the clarity and the talent on the pitch is at a high level, and so we're able to control matches and make teams look bad and make them make it look like they never have a chance in the match," Marsch said.
