Somehow, This Chevy Camaro ‘Carralo’ Is Real and Not Something From GTA

The makers of Grand Theft Auto have mastered the art of generic-looking cars. While they sometimes cross the line into recognizability, the cars of GTA usually look just enough like real-world cars to give you an idea of what they’re supposed to be, without triggering any lawsuits. And sometimes life imitates art when somebody takes the trouble to bend sheet metal or mold fiberglass, only to have the end product look like it rolled straight out of the game.
This 1989 Chevrolet Camaro is one such example. Currently for sale on Craigslist, it’s a custom-bodied Carralo that was one of only two made for that model year, according to the listing. A further 90 were made as 1990 models, so maybe things were just getting ramped up for 1989. I’ve never seen one of these before, but thanks to the GTA-like design, I kind of feel like I have.

Amazingly Preserved 37,000-Mile ’76 Chevy Pickup Has Had Only One Owner
Here’s a stunningly preserved Chevy “square-body” pickup from America’s Bicentennial year. Unlike restomodded vintage pickups, it is as it was: no lift kit, no giant wheels, just a manual gearbox and 4x4 capability. This pickup clearly has been cared for over the years. Here’s hoping the next owner does the same. In 1976, America celebrated the 200th year since the signing of the Declaration of Independence, Wings’ “Silly Love Songs” was all over the radio, and Sylvester Stallone was going the distance in theaters as Rocky. In that same year, a man walked into a Chevy dealership in Colorado and drove out of it in an honest and simple pickup truck of a kind you just can’t find anymore. And he just kept it. Bring a TrailerNow up for auction at Bring a Trailer (which, like Car and Driver, is part of Hearst Autos), this 1976 Chevrolet K10 pickup is as much of a time capsule as those that were dug up this year to celebrate America’s 250th birthday. Incredibly, it has had the same owner since new and has accumulated just 37K miles in those 50 years.

Modern Cars Are Ditching The Dipstick: Here's Why
It's all dashboard lights and touchscreen warnings these days For decades, the vast majority of cars had a very simple tool to help owners properly maintain their car. That tool was a dipstick, and it enabled a quick, objective look at whether or not an engine or transmission had enough fluid inside for safe operation. Today, many cars don't offer that same simple tool to their owners. Instead, they offer digital displays that are often hidden deep in touchscreen menus. That can feel like a real step backward for DIY drivers. There is, however, a reason behind the change.

How 'Jam Sandwich' Became Slang For Certain British Police Cars
A lot of British slang doesn't seem to make a lot of sense at face value, but there is always a reason for it. Terms like 'Chelsea tractor' or 'sleeping policeman' are examples that no Brit would blink an eye at, and alongside them sits the 'jam sandwich.' Among the many key differences between American and European police cars, or in this instance, specifically British ones, is that police vehicles from a very specific era in Britain picked up the nickname 'jam sandwiches.' The reason is simple.
