Free-scoring Brighton continue to impress and entertain as they thrash Palace - BBC

Not only are Brighton scoring more than everyone else in the Premier League, they are netting better goals too. Centre-half Lewis Dunk won the Premier League goal of the month for September with a 35-yard stunner against Coventry. Now, five weeks later, that has already been eclipsed. Step forward Seagulls team-mate Diego Gomez, who shot from the halfway line having seen Crystal Palace goalkeeper Walter Benitez off his line during Brighton's emphatic 5-0 win over their rivals on Sunday. Benitez made a rapid dash back to his goal and produced a desperate dive but could not stop the ball going in just under the crossbar. "As soon as he struck it, I knew it was in. He's taken the club goal of the season off me," joked Brighton skipper Dunk. "That's the goal of the season so far, what a hit," added former Premier League striker Efan Ekoku, part of the commentary team for BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra. "[It was] superbly struck and right over the head of the keeper from the centre-circle.

Line change lights scoring fuse for Canadiens winger Josh Anderson - Montreal Gazette

With 23 goals overall through seven games this season, it’s no secret the Canadiens are seeking more offence that will lead to improved results. That captain Nick Suzuki has four goals is no surprise. Neither should anyone be shocked that Cole Caufield — who scored a team-leading 51 goals last season — has three, along with Zachary Bolduc, who is historically a fast starter.

McDavid continues to climb all-time scoring charts in dominant start to season - Oilers Nation

A rested and determined Connor McDavid is a nightmare for opposing NHL teams and a joy to behold for Edmonton Oilers fans. His ascent up the NHL all-time scoring charts has been quick and lethal. His four-point night gave him 1,237 points, which ranks 45th all-time. He will pass Peter Stastney (1,239 in 977 games) later this week and will move ahead of Steven Stamkos (1263), Jean Ratelle (1267), Al MacInnis (1274), Alex Delvecchio (1281), Jarome Iginla (1300), Anze Kopitar (1316), Gilbert Perreault (1326), Pierre Turgeon (1327), Mike Gartner (1335), Denis Savard (1338) and Dave Andreychuk (1338) before the end of the year and rank 34th all-time. By the end of next season, he should be ranked among the top 20 scorers of all time, but he’ll only be at 960 games (maximum) by then. Every player in the top 20, except Mario Lemieux, played at least 1279 games. Some might get bored hearing about McDavid’s accolades, but you shouldn’t. You are witnessing an incredibly gifted player who could surpass 2,200 points. Yes, 2,200. For me, 2,000 is a lock, unless some freak injury occurs, and McDavid looks the best he ever has early on this season.
