Paired Fundus and Optical Coherence Tomography Dataset for Neovascular Age-related Macular Degeneration - Nature

AbstractAccurate classification of macular neovascularization (MNV) subtypes and reliable prediction of anti-VEGF treatment response are essential for individualized management of neovascular age-related macular degeneration (nAMD), yet existing public AMD-related datasets lack multimodal imaging with fine-grained, longitudinal annotations to support these tasks. Here we present PCO-nAMD, a rigorously curated dataset of Paired color fundus photography (CFP) and optical coherence tomography (OCT) images designed to facilitate multimodal research on MNV subtype classification and treatment response prediction in nAMD.

Three-year real-world outcomes of faricimab in pretreated eyes with treatment-resistant neovascular age-related macular degeneration - Nature
Long-term real-world evidence on faricimab in previously treated, treatment-resistant neovascular age-related macular degeneration (nAMD) remains limited. Although pivotal trials demonstrated sustained visual outcomes and extended dosing intervals in treatment-naïve eyes, these findings may not be directly applicable to patients with chronic disease, persistent exudative activity, and a high treatment burden despite frequent anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) therapy [1]. This study reports three-year outcomes following a switch from aflibercept 2 mg (Eylea; Bayer, Germany) to faricimab (Vabysmo; Roche, Switzerland) in treatment-resistant nAMD, extending the previously published 12- and 24-month analyses of this cohort [2, 3]. This retrospective, single-centre study was approved by the Trust clinical audit department (MEDRET/SE/2026-27/08) and followed the Declaration of Helsinki. It included 133 eyes of 107 patients with persistent or recurrent intraretinal fluid (IRF) and/or subretinal fluid (SRF), or inadequate treatment durability, despite aflibercept 2 mg ≤8-week intervals.
