After visiting over 100 countries on my own, Italy is one of my favorites.
On my 36th birthday, I crossed the border from Uganda into Rwanda, commemorating my 100th country visited as a solo traveler. It was a gift — literally — to have this happen on my birthday, but also a huge feat for me. I took my first solo trip when I was a 25-year-old bartender in New York City. Since then, I've been all over — from popular tourist destinations to off-the-beaten-path destinations like rural Madagascar and tiny islands like Jeju and Nevis — documenting my ventures on my blog, No Man Nomad, along the way. After being privileged enough to see so many corners of the world, I can say with confidence that destinations are simply better suited for new solo travelers. If I had to start this wild, wacky journey all over again, here are five destinations I'd consider for a first-time solo trip.

I've traveled to 110 countries. There's one thing I make sure to do in every place I visit. - Business Insider
I've traveled to 110 countries, and I try to learn and make something wherever I go. A few years ago in Gyumri, Armenia, a guide led me past the souvenir stalls and into an artist's studio called Varem Marem. For the next 45 minutes, I made a miniature traditional Armenian door from plaster using a mold, then painted it to turn it into a fridge magnet. I'm not crafty, and it was more abstract than intended, but I was hooked before the paint had dried. The experience cost about $10, and the magnet is still on my fridge. After most of my trips to 110 countries, I came home with shot glasses and keychains. Since Gyumri, I look for a small class on every trip, where I can learn from locals and make something I'll take with me. It's nice that the skills I learn and things I make keep getting used after I get home

I've been to Italy 16 times. There's one city I always recommend to first-time visitors. - Business Insider
After visiting Italy 16 times, Bologna is the city that stands out to me the most. I've been to Italy 16 times, and if you give me an opening, I can work it into just about any conversation. But surprisingly, it wasn't Venice, Rome, or the Amalfi Coast that made me fall head over heels for the country. It was Bologna, the capital of northern Italy's Emilia-Romagna region. Bologna has it all — food, wine, art, history, architecture, and the kind of energy that makes you seriously consider missing your flight home. Sure, seeing the Colosseum is cool, but I prefer eating perfectly made tortellini with a glass of pignoletto in Bologna. Here's why I always recommend tourists add Bologna to their itinerary, even if they can only spare one glorious, carb-loaded night.

New Guide, "How Do I Get ChatGPT To Recommend My Business?", Strategy Revealed - markets.businessinsider.com
Authority Acquisition's new guide explains how ChatGPT recommends businesses based on discoverable published content, not paid placement, and outlines steps for expert businesses to improve AI search visibility. Torrance, United States, September 30, 2026 -- Authority Acquisition, a firm that helps expert businesses build the systems behind their expertise, has published a guide explaining what determines whether ChatGPT recommends a business. The guide addresses a common misconception: that paid placement, secret prompts, or guaranteed submissions can secure a mention. According to the guide, ChatGPT can only recommend what it can find published on the open web. The full guide is available at https://authorityacquisition.co/mc/013The distinction between paid influence and genuine discoverability matters because OpenAI has drawn a line between the two. OpenAI began testing ads in ChatGPT in the United States in February 2026, and has since expanded to additional countries.
