Cysic Foundation is investigating an unauthorized issuance on BNB Smart Chain and said the mint size alone does not establish the incident’s dollar impact. The foundation said in a Sunday X incident report that its cross-chain bridge was suspended after an attacker exploited a processing flaw to mint 10 million CYS on BNB Smart Chain on Saturday, with preliminary findings pointing to unauthorized access to a database supporting the bridge. The mint occurred at 12:31:38 UTC on Oct. 17, and Cysic added the recipient address to the token contract’s blacklist at 13:47:52 UTC. About 2.8 million CYS remained at that address, with transfers restricted. There are roughly 160.8 million tokens in circulation, according to CoinMarketCap data. CYS coordinates incentives for users, compute providers, governance participants and contributors in Cysic’s network, according to the project’s tokenomics documentation. Cysic said the incident was limited to bridge message processing and minting and did not affect the mainnet or other operational systems. “The incident did not result in the theft or unauthorized transfer of existing CYS or other assets held in user wallets,” it said.

Lender says it won’t relax construction loan standards for condo developers hit by sales downturn
A major Ontario condo construction lender says it won’t relax its loan criteria for developers despite a sharp drop in projects and industry calls for more support. In the fourth year of the real estate downturn, developers have been shelving or postponing condo projects because mom-and-pop investors are no longer interested in buying preconstruction units. Individual investors used to account for the vast majority of preconstruction condo purchases in the Toronto region. The lack of investors means that developers cannot sell the amount of units required to qualify for construction financing. Lenders typically require 70 per cent of a project’s units be sold before they will provide the developer with financing to launch construction. “The 70 per cent remains a good metric,” said Kevin VanKampen, head of business banking with Meridian Credit Union, the province’s largest credit union that has been providing condo developers with loans for at least two decades.
