Caufield scores overtime winner as Canadiens down Sabres - TSN
MONTREAL — Cole Caufield scored twice, including the overtime winner, to lift the Montreal Canadiens past the Buffalo Sabres 4-3 on Saturday night. Caufield went on a breakaway after Josh Norris missed his shot on a three-on-one rush before ripping a shot into the top-left corner 54 seconds into the extra period. Zachary Bolduc and Alexandre Texier also scored as Montreal (4-3-1) built a two-goal lead before Buffalo stormed back. Juraj Slafkovsky and Alexandre Carrier added two assists each. Jacob Fowler stopped 23 shots in his fourth start in five games. Jack Quinn, Tage Thompson and Norris replied for Buffalo (4-3-2), which fell 4-3 in a shootout to the Canadiens on Tuesday. Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen made 30 saves. Thompson tied the game 3-3 with 9:48 remaining in the third period after Josh Doan found him alone at the side of the net to eventually force overtime. Norris opened the scoring for the Sabres at 8:21 in a sluggish first period for the Canadiens, tallying his second goal this season on a rebound after Montreal defenceman David Reinbacher turned the puck over in the neutral zone. The Canadiens broke out of a sluggish start with a tying goal on their first shot.

Marchenko’s Leafs breakout muddied by costly mistake in overtime - TSN
Kirill Marchenko did not get a chance to savour his first hat trick with the Toronto Maple Leafs. “I will remember this night for sure, but it’s so bad when we lose the game,” the 26-year-old said. “Winning is more important. And I kind of frustrated too, because it’s my mistake in overtime.”Marchenko lost his man, Owen Power, and watched as the Sabres defenceman worked a give-and-go play with Jack Quinn before beating Sergei Bobrovsky to help Buffalo steal two points in Toronto. “He just jumped by me and scored,” Marchenko said. “I will clean up that for sure ... We need to find a way [to] win these games. It’s so important for us.”The Leafs squandered a two-goal lead in the third period to fall to 3-3-2 on the season and 0-2-1 against Atlantic Division rivals. Marchenko put the Leafs in a prime position to beat the Sabres before overtime. “He’s an elite skill forward,” Bobrovsky said. “His ability to score, it’s incredible. He got long reach. Those goals, it’s pure skill.”Marchenko scored on a beautiful between-the-legs move during a first period power play. What was he thinking? “Nothing, actually,” Marchenko told TSN during an intermission interview.
