Description
Former Alberta premier Jason Kenney, who co-founded the province's United Conservative Party in 2017, says separatists have infiltrated it and are wielding an outsized influence. Mr. Kenney says after the province's referendum on separation next week, the UCP will need to decide whether it will welcome separatists or go back to its federalist roots. Mr. Kenney stepped down as the UCP leader after he failed to secure substantial support from members in an internal review in May, 2022. While Mr. Kenney led the UCP to power in 2019, the coronavirus pandemic deepened divisions within the party and province. #alberta #abpoli #canada #jasonkenney Subscribe to The Globe and Mail's Morning Update to get stories directly in your inbox: https://www.theglobeandmail.com/newsletters/subscribe-morning-update/
