Ancient mud reveals a surprising secret about Greenland’s ice - Earth.com

Mud from a fjord shows an Atlantic air pattern brought wetter, colder spells to southern Greenland, a clue to how its ice may fare. Greenland’s ice is shrinking as the planet warms. But in the island’s southwest, rainfall and snowfall have been influenced by the same North Atlantic air-pressure pattern for at least 5,000 years. When that pattern tipped one way, the region turned wetter and colder. The record comes from mud on the floor of a Greenland fjord, and it suggests snowfall, not only temperature, shaped how the area’s ice grew and shrank. It doesn’t yet show how glaciers there will respond to the warming ahead. Johan Faust, a researcher at MARUM, the Center for Marine Environmental Sciences at the University of Bremen in Germany, led the work with colleagues in Germany, Norway, Denmark and Canada. A seesaw in the airThe pattern is called the North Atlantic Oscillation. It’s the difference in air pressure between a low that sits near Iceland and a high near the Azores, and it’s strongest in winter. When that difference is large, the pattern is in its positive phase. Northwestern Europe and southwestern Greenland both get more rain and snow.

Johnny Depp and Paul Bettany 'Hadn't Spoken' in Years By Libel Trial - Variety

Paul Bettany opened up in a recent interview with The Times about the public’s misconception of his relationship with Johnny Depp after text messages between the two actors were used in court during Depp’s libel lawsuit against The Sun. “I hadn’t spoken to Johnny in years when that happened and I haven’t spoken to him since. I was being painted as this close friend of a guy I hadn’t spoken to in years and, honestly, amid all the shit two celebrities threw at each other, that bit was the most odd,” Paul told the publication.

We may receive a commission on purchases made from links. If you ever noticed that the suffix "pro" adds a strange gravitas to a product, you're not alone. The Google Pixel 11 Pro was just released in August 2026, and it's an amazing phone with a fluid design and AI-enabled features.

Black & White 3 doesn't sound like it's ever going to happen, but good ole overpromising Peter Molyneux may have let slip about a remaster of the original

"But it would be inappropriate for me to talk about it" Peter Molyneux feels like a man who can never die. He's just sort of always been there, and seems like he always will be, making some kind of game where you can hypothetically do what you want, never quite living up to expectations. But hey, he's Peter Molyneux, what else would you expect? The complicated icon is still ticking away at his latest, Masters of Albion, but in a recent interview, he spoke of one of his old classics, Black & White, and the idea of a third entry in the series (and the fact that there might be something newish on the way).

Here’s Who Jenna Dewan Will Dance With During ‘DWTS’ “Dedication Night” Amid Val Chmerkovskiy’s Suspension - Cosmopolitan

Val Chmerkovskiy has been suspended from Dancing With the Stars for a full week due to his “Oscar Slap” comment aimed at judge Carrie Ann Inaba—and if you’re wondering where that leaves his celeb partner, Jenna Dewan, there’s a plan. Variety confirms that Jenna will still participate in Dedication Night, only instead of dancing with Val, she’ll be partnered with Alan Bersten. Jenna and Alan (who was eliminated earlier this season) will dance a Viennese waltz to “Unchained Melody,” dedicated to Jenna’s mom. “Jenna Dewan is aware and has continued to be a true professional and respectful of the process,” a source tells the outlet. “Jenna is a beloved part of the Dancing with the Stars family, and we are grateful for the joy and positivity she brings to the show.”BBC Studios released an official statement confirming Val’s suspension, saying, “The well-being of everyone who works on ‘Dancing with the Stars’ is non-negotiable. Val’s social media post was inappropriate and does not reflect the values or standards expected of anyone connected with the show.

TheBodyPro | What to know about hepatitis B when switching to tenofovir-sparing antiretroviral regimens - European AIDS Treatment Group

TheBodyPro clinical overviewAs we more frequently prescribe injectables, two-drug therapies, and other novel antiretroviral regimens, a growing proportion of those regimens lack tenofovir. Because tenofovir is used to treat hepatitis B virus (HBV) and is partially protective against new HBV infection, providers need to consider the risk of new or reactivated HBV before switching a patient to a tenofovir-sparing regimen. “I think we are very much in, and entering, an era where increasingly more therapeutic options for antiretroviral therapy and PrEP are going to be without tenofovir,” said H. Nina Kim, M. D., M. Sc., a professor of medicine at University of Washington’s Division of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. Kim co-authored a viewpoint paper this May in Clinical Infectious Diseases highlighting the issue so that clinicians can protect patients against potentially harmful reactivations and new HBV infections. “Many of these reactivations may be subclinical with mild rise in liver enzymes,” Kim said.

RCMP officers charged in death of Yellowknife man left in police vehicle - The Globe and Mail

The RCMP says it has laid charges against two of its own officers after a man from Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, died in their custody last year. The Alberta RCMP, which led the investigation into the man’s death, says the two Yellowknife officers face charges of criminal negligence causing death and failing to provide the necessities of life. The charges stem from an incident in March, 2025, police say, when the two officers responded to a report of a disturbance at a Yellowknife business. When the officers arrived, the RCMP says they detained a man who was showing signs of intoxication and left him inside a police vehicle while they gathered more information at the scene. Police say the officers returned to the car and found the man, 56-year-old Lawrence Blackduck, unresponsive. He was ultimately pronounced dead at the scene, the RCMP says, after life-saving measures were attempted and paramedics were called. The RCMP did not give further details about the officers’ alleged conduct which gave rise to the charges.

Eagles' Hurts going on IR after reported consultations with doctors - theScore

The Philadelphia Eagles placed quarterback Jalen Hurts on injured reserve, the team announced Saturday. The Eagles made the decision following consultations with doctors and experts that continued into Saturday, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter and NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Philadelphia initially did not plan to place Hurts on IR. Hurts was recently diagnosed with a superficial blood clot in his calf. He will remain sidelined for an indefinite period, sources told Schefter and Rapoport. An IR designation means the three-time Pro Bowler is required to miss at least four games before returning to the lineup. Hurts threw for eight touchdowns and 933 passing yards through his first five appearances this season. The Eagles started the season with two straight wins but have lost three in a row. Backup quarterback Tanner McKee will start Sunday against the Carolina Panthers. The Eagles also recently signed quarterback Joe Milton off the Dallas Cowboys' practice squad. Philadelphia is also dealing with injuries to Saquon Barkley and Will Shipley. However, star wideout DeVonta Smith is on track to return after being a full participant in Friday's practice.

WARNING: ConnectWise Supply-Chain Attack Exposes Microsoft 365 Tenants - LinkedIn

A supply-chain attack involving ConnectWise’s cloud services has exposed Microsoft 365 customers to unauthorized application access, with researchers reporting successful sign-ins across 173 partner and customer tenants. The incident centres on credentials associated with ConnectWise Cloud Backup, formerly SkyKick, and raises concerns about attackers exploiting permissions already entrusted to business software. ConnectWise has confirmed unauthorized access to application identities within its Cloud Backup environment. In an October 17 update on its service-status page, the company said it was shutting off application access, interrupting customer backups while investigation and remediation continued.
