Apple TV 4K 2022 vs. 2026 Buyer's Guide: All Differences Compared - MacRumors

Apple announced the fourth-generation Apple TV 4K earlier this week, introducing the A19 chip, built-in microphones for hands-free Siri, four-speaker HomePod surround sound, and an updated ‌Siri‌ Remote. It replaces the third-generation model introduced in 2022, bringing a number of internal changes while retaining the same basic design and most of the same entertainment features. The new model costs $299 and comes with 128GB of storage. ‌Siri‌ AI is also coming to the third-generation model, and the new remote can be purchased separately for existing devices. Apple says the assistant will be available in beta with tvOS 27.2 on second-generation and later ‌Apple TV‌ 4K models, including conversational entertainment searches, follow-up questions, and personal context through a compatible paired device.

Google Puts Inline Links Higher In More AI Search Responses - Search Engine Journal

Google is updating how links will be presented in both AI Mode and AI Overviews. The search engine has announced five changes. First, it will display inline links more frequently higher up in response listings. Second, it plans to start testing a section at the top of certain responses with links to official sites about a specific task. Hema Budaraju, VP of Product Management, described five updates in a blog post. Google is also expanding its carousels for timely articles, which highlight a user’s Preferred Sources, to more locations and languages. This week, it started testing creator and publisher names on AI Mode video results that link to Search profiles.

Quantum calculations reveal how spin defects lose energy - Phys.org

Researchers in the Galli Group at the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Molecular Engineering (UChicago PME) have built a computational framework that captures the full optical cycle of such spin defects, including the prediction of internal conversion, a process particularly hard to model. When light hits a tiny defect embedded in a solid material like diamond or silicon carbide, it can kick the defect's electrons into an excited state. These spin defects have the potential to be used as stable, readable qubits for quantum technologies, for example, quantum sensing.

Optimizing Software Workflow: Exploring Fundamental Impacts in Technology - infoq.com

Software only has value when shipped; faster release cadence matters. Development, deployment, and operations require different thinking, metrics, and investments, Titus Winters explained in his talk Software Workflow Optimization at Craft Conference. He mentioned four impacts in tech: product success, compute capacity, engineering capacity, and strategic innovation. The biggest expense is people, not compute, which goes mostly unmeasured. AI shifts engineers toward deeper problem understanding, not fewer engineers, he argued. Developing software with or without AI, we have to carefully reason about the goals, inputs, and outputs of each phase of the software workflow, Winters mentioned. He referred to the paper Develop, Deploy, Operate - a holistic model for understanding the costs and value of software development that he wrote with Leah Rivers and Salim Virji, which provides guidance for reasoning about impact and efficiency in the software process, whether AI-assisted or not.
