The Montreal Canadiens are experiencing a window of contention, and general manager Kent Hughes is motivated to keep that open as long as possible. It could be a sign of desperation to trade younger talent for a "win-now" piece like Dylan Larkin, but it could be construed as Hughes having his thumb on the pulse of the fandom that chanted "We Want Larkin" at a recent Habs game. What stands between a trade between the Canadiens and Red Wings is Larkin's trade list, which hasn't expanded to include the Original Six team in Canada. The Michigan-born forward has kept his interest in American-based teams. The second issue in the trade, which hasn't been addressed, is what the Canadiens would have to give up to acquire their 1C Larkin from the Red Wings. Dylan Larkin To Montreal For Michael Hage And Three To Four "Assets" It could be a haul, as Shaun Starr and Marco D'Amico discussed a potential return for the Red Wings, which included "future 2C" Michael Hage. "I like Michael Hage... Larkin is a sure thing. You're getting a sure thing at the 2C position" - @ShaunStarr78

Cade Cunningham had 18 points and seven assists to lead Detroit (3-1) and Jalen Duren had 14 points and three rebounds. CLEVELAND (AP) — Game 4 of the American League Championship Series between the Tampa Bay Rays and Cleveland Guardians was postponed because of rain Friday night. Major League Baseball was hoping there would be a three-hour window of dry weather to get the game in, but the showers never let up. “It never cleared out the way they were hoping. It started to get later in the hour, and MLB and I think both clubs did everything they could to try to get it in,” Rays manager Kevin Cash said. “Made the most sense, like, at this point and this hour, with no guarantee that there wasn’t another band coming.”The teams will resume their playoff series Saturday at 8 p.m. ET, with Game 5 also at Progressive Field on Sunday at 5 p.m., and Game 6, if necessary, on Monday at 8 p.m. in St. Petersburg, Florida. “We knew how many days ago that today was going to be a challenge. Numerous weather calls, numerous back and forths, and ultimately MLB decided we needed to wait it out,” Guardians manager Stephen Vogt said. “Obviously it’s an important game, and we need to make sure we’re doing everything we can to play the games when they’re scheduled.

John Smoltz shared his thoughts on the Dodgers' immense struggles against the Brewers in the National League Championship Series. The Milwaukee Brewers shocked the MLB world by sweeping the Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League Championship Series. Milwaukee winning the series in competitive fashion wouldn't have been all that surprising, but getting the job done in only four games was impressive to say the least. Former MLB star pitcher John Smoltz, who was one of the broadcasters during the series, recently joined Flippin' Bats with Ben Verlander to discuss what went wrong for LA in the series. “Well the easy and lazy statement would be that they (Dodgers) got old,” Smoltz told Verlander. “But that's not fair. Getting old had nothing to do with hitting, it might have had something to do with defense… The Dodgers had to slug, they didn't slug. They had to hit with runners in scoring position, they didn't. They had three straight innings where they could have tied the game or taken the lead, they didn't. “Credit deserves on the other side, but when you're champions and you've been there, done that, that experience flip flops to you.

(Photo by Chris Tanouye/Getty Images) The Toronto Maple Leafs squandered a 4-2 lead and fell 5-4 to the Buffalo Sabres in overtime on Thursday, October 15. The game featured several key talking points, including Kirill Marchenko’s hat trick, Auston Matthews’ strong performance, and some negative developments, such as John Tavares’ injury and head coach Jim Hiller benching Gavin McKenna. The latter decision sparked significant controversy among fans, with some even calling for the coach to be fired for how he handled the prospect. The following day, on Friday’s edition of “The Leafs Morning Take,” Nick Alberga and Jay Rosehill discussed the situation. Rosehill, drawing on his experience as a former player, offered his analysis of why Hiller made the decision, while making it clear he disagreed with the head coach’s approach. ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reports that the NFL “could step back in and create a longer suspension” for Josh Jacobs if the video showing his altercation with a woman is released. Fowler is surprisingly saying the quiet part out loud here, though this has been the general consensus for fans and analysts for a while. Jacobs is scheduled to come off the NFL’s Commissioner Exempt list on Monday. The NFL is reportedly trying to get hold of the video, and Jacobs has sued to block its release. Fowler adds that the woman’s attorney said her client has not participated in the league’s investigation due to privacy concerns. If the video stays under wraps, Jacobs could be allowed to continue playing in the NFL.
