Maple Leafs coach Hiller insists McKenna benching had nothing to do with performance - TSN

Gavin McKenna played just six minutes and 36 seconds during the Maple Leafs’ 5-4 overtime loss to the Buffalo Sabres on Thursday night at Scotiabank Arena. His last shift came midway through the second period. “We had those penalties, I wanted to get him out there, he sat through the penalties, and then I didn’t get him out there through that stretch,” head coach Jim Hiller explained. “And then the last few minutes of the period, we were just trying to get out of the period, I guess you would say, and now I’ve sat him for so long, and he sits in the intermission. So, I probably should’ve got him out there early in the third. I didn’t, so I’ll talk to him about that.”The Leafs were shorthanded twice in the second half of the second period with Oliver Ekman-Larsson getting whistled for high sticking at 14:35 and Morgan Rielly getting called for hooking at 18:07. Zach Benson was called for interference at 18:33, which ended the second Buffalo power play after 26 seconds. McKenna, the first overall pick in the 2026 draft, is not part of Toronto’s penalty-kill rotation. Between the Ekman-Larsson penalty and the Rielly penalty, Kirill Marchenko scored to give the Leafs a 4-2 lead.

Broncos beat Seahawks in OT with key interception, walk-off FG - TSN

DENVER (AP) — The Denver Broncos are atrocious on offense, depleted on defense and shaky on special teams. All they do is find ways to win. Ja’Quan McMillian intercepted Sam Darnold’s pass in overtime Thursday night and Wil Lutz kicked a 53-yard field goal that gave the Broncos a 17-14 victory over the Seattle Seahawks. The Broncos emerged from a tough six-week season-opening stretch with a 4-2 record despite an injury-riddled roster and a shaky quarterback, and the Seahawks (3-3) lost for the second time in five days. They also matched their loss total from last season, when they won their second Super Bowl title. The Broncos won despite Bo Nix throwing for just 107 yards, J. K. Dobbins leading the rushing attack with a mere 41 yards and managing a meager three first downs and 168 yards of total offense — less than half the 353 yards piled up by the Seahawks. “I don’t know why we can’t really push the ball vertically right now,” Nix said. “But defenses are just sitting back and hanging out. ... Hopefully we find a way to get more out of it.”Nix was as honest as he’s been to date in his postgame comments about Denver’s scuffling offense.

Tesla reveals next generation flying Roadster sports EV with SpaceX thrusters - LiveNOW from FOX

Published October 15, 2026 11:29 PM EDT article The Tesla Roadster can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in under one second and can reach a top speed of over 230 mph, CEO Elon Musk said. (Photo: Tesla) Automaker Tesla demonstrated a redesigned roadster Thursday that can drive upside down on an inverted ramp, turn in midair and land using built-in thrusters. It also used its rockets to fly over a line of parked vehicles.  The backstory: It was a major upgrade to the next-generation version of its electric sports car that Tesla first showed nine years ago with a plan to start production in 2028, Reuters reported.  Tesla demonstrated a redesigned roadster Thursday that can drive upside down on an inverted ramp, turn in mid-air and land using built-in thrusters. (Photo: Tesla) The redesigned vehicle, developed with CEO Elon Musk’s SpaceX, would accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in less than a second, which he says is "the least interesting part," given the collaboration with SpaceX.  "Advanced cold-gas thrusters use all-electric actuators to offer precise thrust, completing micro adjustments within a fraction of a second. This helps stabilize the vehicle in flight," Tesla’s website states.

Sens Defeat Islanders 2-1 in Artem Zub's Return - Silver Seven

Artem Zub made his season debut as Matthew Schaefer and the Islanders came to town. Linus Ullmark and Semyon Varlamov got the starts. Stephen Halliday got the opportunity to play on the top line with Tim Stützle and Drake Batherson and almost scored early when he went to the net and got a pass from Batherson in front that he couldn't quite control. Moments later Warren Foegele beat Varlamov clean and thought he had scored his first goal of the season, only to learn that his shot hit the crossbar and stayed out. The fourth line got some sustained pressure in the Islanders' zone as Foegele, Zetterlund and Ridly Greig were relentlessly forechecking. Minutes later, Halliday cleanly beat Varlamov glove side, however, Islanders coach Pete DeBoer challenged for offside and on the review it was clear that Batherson was a foot offside. To make matters worse, with seconds left in the period, Shane Pinto whiffed on a pass in the defensive zone and Matias Maccelli picked up the puck and fired a wrist shot past Ullmark on a goal he should have saved. 1-0 New York.
