Lindsay Mattick is the great granddaughter of Captain Harry Colebourn, the Canadian veterinarian soldier who adopted the bear who became author A. A. Milne’s inspiration for Winnie-the-Pooh.

On Aug. 24, 1914, a young Canadian army veterinarian named Harry Colebourn passed through White River, Ont., on his way to the front lines. The 27-year-old Winnipegger had always loved animals. According to his diary, while stopped in the small Ontario railway town, he bought a female bear cub from a trapper for $20 and named her Winnie, after his hometown of Winnipeg.

Night Shyamalan’s 2016 horror “Split.” “You get the odd check for, you know, a couple 100 quid here or sometimes you get checks for, like, 25 cents and you’re like, ‘It literally costs more to post this than it did for me to cash it,’” McAvoy said during a recent episode of the Happy Sad Confused podcast. “But the only one that really consistently pays me is ‘Split.’”

3 hours agoLola SchroerAlan Westmanifest performed their first UK concert at Wembley ArenaWhen I first meet Turkish girl group manifest, we're on a boat cruising down the River Thames. The six band members are clutching Union jack umbrellas as they pose for press photographs and mingle with British pop acts, including K-pop-trained boyband dearALICE. Netflix cameras are filming the evening for a six-part documentary. The group are in London hoping to build on their success in Turkey and reach an international audience. Their ambitions come after a turbulent year at home, during which the band were prosecuted for public indecency over their outfits and dance moves during a concert in Istanbul.'We'll manifest Coachella'A few weeks after their appearance on the boat, I meet the group again at Wembley Arena, where they are preparing for their first UK concert the following night. As the staging - complete with giant LED screens and the group's logo - is set up around them, the six members rehearse synchronised choreography alongside their back-up dancers.
