This Terrifying New Series Just Might Be Your Next Spooky Season Obsession - PureWow

Horror fans, rejoice! Published Oct 12, 2026•1:00pmCourtesy of PrimeOctober basically comes with a built-in excuse to watch something creepy. Between the Halloween costumes, early sunsets and general spooky-season energy, it’s prime time for horror fans to settle in with a thriller. And now there’s a new take on one of the genre’s most iconic stories that viewers are already talking about: Prime Video’s Carrie. Carrie premiered October 7, giving Stephen King’s classic 1974 novel another modern-day makeover. Developed by Mike Flanagan, the eight-episode supernatural horror series follows Carrie White (Summer H. Howell), a sheltered teenager who has spent most of her life isolated by her intensely religious mother, Margaret (Samantha Sloyan), and her doomsday-prepper father, Ralph (Tahmoh Penikett). Courtesy of PrimeBut Carrie’s carefully controlled world starts to unravel after her father unexpectedly dies. Suddenly, she’s forced to leave the only environment she knows and enter public high school for the first time. And, well, we all know high school can be brutal enough without supernatural abilities entering the equation.

Elon Musk, Sam Altman and the deeply terrifying film 'Artificial' - Central Oregon Daily

NEW YORK ‒ Elon Musk is getting the Hollywood treatment. The billionaire Tesla CEO is ruthlessly satirized in Luca Guadagnino’s “Artificial” (in theaters Christmas Day), a queasy new drama about the troubling rise of artificial intelligence company OpenAI. Musk is played by comedian Ike Barinholtz (“The Studio”), who glowers and strides in exaggerated fashion throughout “Artificial,” which made its world premiere at the New York Film Festival Oct. 5. Along with Sam Altman (Andrew Garfield) and Ilya Sutskever (Yura Borisov), Musk was one of the early co-founders of OpenAI in 2015, before leaving three years later due to disagreements over the organization’s leadership and direction. At a post-screening Q&A, Barinholtz talked about how he approached Musk as the movie’s comic relief. “I mean, when you're playing someone as universally beloved as Elon Musk, who everybody just admires and is a person who walks normally ...,” joked “The Mindy Project” star, earning raucous laughs from the crowd at Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall.
