Dr. Kristen Splinter (she/her) is a Professor and Managing Director of the Water Research Laboratory at UNSW Sydney, Australia. Originally from Canada, her research focuses on understanding and predicting how coastlines change, from individual storms through to long-term coastal evolution. She works across shoreline monitoring, coastal erosion and recovery, remote sensing, and the development of next-generation coastal prediction models that combine physical understanding with data-driven and machine learning approaches. Kristen is a member of the leadership team of the ARC Centre of Excellence for Our Future Oceans, where she contributes to interdisciplinary research supporting the resilience of coastal and marine environments. Her work is driven by a belief that better coastal futures depend on bringing together diverse knowledge, observations, and technologies to improve our understanding of dynamic coastal systems. She is also co-founder of Comomola (COastal MOrphodynamics and Machine LeArning), an international network connecting coastal scientists and machine learning researchers around the world.

James Cameron congratulates Avengers: Endgame's box office success with bonkers image - A.V. Club

Marvel Studios’ release of Avengers: Endgame: Encore was a shrewd gambit for a few reasons: It put the studio’s most successful film back in conversation right after the juggernaut success of Spider-Man: Brand New Day; it tided die-hards over with new footage ahead of December’s Avengers: Doomsday; and, perhaps most importantly, it raked in an additional $138 million for the film, reinstating its position as the worldwide box office champion over James Cameron’s Avatar. Cameron, who certainly doesn’t spend his precious time fretting about such matters as lifetime financial grosses and being the best in the world at stuff, recently expressed his congratulations to Marvel for once again overtaking his 2009 sci-fi film. “You are one of the people,” the director wrote (per The Wrap) in a composite image from Avatar, with Iron Man at the center of a welcoming Na’vi tribe. “Congratulations to Marvel and the #1 Avengers: Endgame: Encore for bringing moviegoers to the cinemas! – Jim Cameron.”
