Brewers sweep Dodgers in NLCS to reach World Series for first time since 1982 - The Globe and Mail

Open this photo in gallery:Milwaukee Brewers pitcher Aaron Ashby celebrates the final out of Game 4 of the National League Championship Series between the Brewers and the Los Angeles Dodgers, Thursday. Ashley Landis/The Associated PressGarrett Mitchell hit a go-ahead homer in the sixth inning, Milwaukee’s brilliant bullpen slammed the door late and the Brewers rallied past the Los Angeles Dodgers 6-4 on Thursday in Game 4 of the National League Championship Series to earn their first World Series trip since 1982. No. 9 hitter David Hamilton’s two-out solo shot off Edwin Díaz gave the Brewers a two-run cushion in the ninth. Hamilton had just four homers in the regular season. “We got down early tonight and we were like, it’s going to be a great story,” Brewers captain Christian Yelich said. “We’re going to come back and win this. Like, stay together, start chipping away. And that’s exactly what they did.”Aaron Ashby pitched three scoreless innings for a save as the Brewers erased a four-run deficit to win their first NL pennant and second overall.

Brewers end Dodgers' three-peat bid with an NLCS sweep of their own - MLB.com

LOS ANGELES -- A step shy of the left-center-field warning track, Jackson Chourio landed with the pennant-clinching final out tucked safely in his outstretched glove. He couldn’t help himself. He broke into an ear-to-ear smile, and just kept running. The Brewers poured out of their dugout and converged at the Dodger Stadium mound, setting off a party that soon moved to a podium in center field, then to a beer-soaked visiting clubhouse and, eventually, to an airplane bound for Milwaukee. Where, for the first time since 1982, the World Series will be played next week. For 363 days, the Brewers dreamed of a different ending. On Thursday night, they wrote it. The two-time defending champion Dodgers have been dethroned. For the first time in 44 years, the Brewers are heading to the World Series. They beat Los Angeles, 6-4, on Thursday night, completing a stunning four-game sweep in the National League Championship Series. “They may have a bunch of Hall of Famers, but we’ve got a bunch of gamers,” said Brewers manager Pat Murphy. “And the gamers won this week.”The script? Familiar enough. An NLCS sweep culminating at Dodger Stadium.

Brewers sweep Dodgers to reach World Series for first time since 1982 - NBC News

The Milwaukee Brewers are headed to the 2026 World Series after they swept the Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League Championship Series. The franchise, which has never won an MLB title, will be making its first appearance in the Fall Classic since 1982. Thursday’s result, a 6-4 Brewers victory in Game 4, ended the Dodgers’ hopes of earning dynasty status. Los Angeles entered the postseason as two-time defending champions, and a third straight title would have put it in rare air — the New York Yankees and the Oakland Athletics the only other teams to have accomplished such a feat. “We’re just happy for our fans and everybody that has been part of this organization and stuck with us over the years,” Brewers star Christian Yelich said on the Fox broadcast after the game. “We’ve been so close to this point so many times. To finally break through is a credit to our guys, our team. They stuck together and battled. We got down there early tonight, and we were like: ‘It’s going to be a great story when we win this. Stay together and start chipping away.’ And it’s exactly what they did.” Brewers third baseman David Hamilton rounds the bases after hitting a home run in the ninth inning

Raiders’ Shingoose heading to World U17 - paNOW

“He’s doing a really good job as he’s continuing to navigate through there, and again, he’s a player who comes to the rink excited every single day. Like, I don’t think I ever see him not smiling; he loves being here, loves getting to work. He’s an extreme competitor anytime he’s on the ice, and I’m really looking forward to seeing him pull the Canadian jersey over his shoulders and get to work.” For the last two tournaments, the Raiders have been represented on at least one of the Team Canada teams playing in the tournament. In 2024, it was Riley Boychuk and Daxon Rudolph who won gold with Team Canada White, and last year Ben Harvey won silver with Team Canada White while Brock Cripps won gold with Team Canada Red. McDonald has seen first-hand how this tournament has affected players upon their return, and he hopes Shingoose follows that example once he returns. “I thought our guys did a tremendous job last year when they were there. Ultimately, Brock was with me on my side and Benny was on the other side, but you just watched how they both played and how they represented their country extremely well, and the same thing for Gooser.
