Ukraine Renews Oil Blitz on Russia, Strikes Ryazan Refinery as Zelensky Ends Pause - Kyiv Post
Ukraine resumed attacks on Russian oil refineries early on Thursday, Oct. 15, striking the Ryazan refinery as explosions and fires were reported at a military airfield in the Voronezh region. Ryazan Region Governor Pavel Malkov confirmed a fire at the refinery, as well as a strike on a warehouse and vehicles at another industrial site in the city. No casualties were reported, and authorities were assessing the damage. JOIN US ON TELEGRAMFollow our coverage of the war on the @Kyivpost_official. Drone attacks also prompted officials to cancel classes at schools and kindergartens in Ryazan’s Oktyabrsky district, where the refinery is located, and parts of the Sovetsky district. The attack came after President Volodymyr Zelensky said Kyiv had paused strikes on Russian oil refineries for three days at Washington’s request, but was lifting the restriction because Moscow continued targeting Ukraine’s energy infrastructure. “The block [on attacking refineries] is out. We’re done,” Zelensky told the Financial Times in an interview in London. The Ryazan refinery is Russia’s third-largest by processing capacity, handling 17.1 million metric tons (18.8 million US tons) of crude oil annually.

Israeli settlers attack European diplomats during West Bank olive harvest - Al Jazeera
Israeli settlers have attacked European diplomats, including a French mayor, near the Palestinian village of Taybeh in the occupied West Bank. The delegation was visiting Palestinian olive harvesters on Saturday when the Israeli attackers confronted the group. The attack comes a day after settlers assaulted a US journalist north of Ramallah. In Saturday’s incident, the settlers targeted Belgium’s consul general, French and Polish diplomats and Catholic representatives, Belgian Foreign Minister Maxime Prevot said. “A French mayor was assaulted and a Belgian vehicle damaged,” Prevot said, linking the attack to what he called Israel’s “illegal settlement policy” and pledging to push for further European Union sanctions. French mayor Bernard Baudoux, who was assaulted, told the AFP news agency that the violence suggests that “there is a tolerance on the part of the Israeli government” towards settler violence. Al Jazeera’s Nour Odeh, reporting from Ramallah, said the settlers surrounded the diplomats’ vehicles, pelted them with stones and smashed their windows.
