CBS Sports and NFL analyst Tony Romo have mutually agreed to part ways, the net said in a statement. Icon Sportswire via Getty Images CBS Sports and NFL analyst Tony Romo have mutually agreed to part ways, the net said in a statement. J. J. Watt will remain in the top NFL booth with play-by-play voice Jim Nantz and sideline reporter Tracy Wolfson for the remainder of the season. The rest of the broadcast teams also will remain the same (X, 10/2). CBS Sports declined further comment. A source told SBJ contributor Richard Deitsch that Romo is “contractually free to work elsewhere in NFL broadcasting if/when he decides to do so.” Romo has been on leave since July following his arrest in Wisconsin for OWI (SBJ). Romo pleaded no contest to the OWI citation and had his driving privileges revoked for six months (SBJ). Romo had four years and $72M remaining on his contract he signed with CBS in 2020. CBS Sports and Romo “reached a financial settlement before Friday’s announcement,” according to sources cited by THE ATHLETIC. The two sides “avoided going to court, indicating that Romo will probably be paid a good portion of the remaining money he was owed” (THE ATHLETIC, 10/2).

Lowry: ‘Conversations’ needed if Hellebuyck were to return to Jets - TSN

Winnipeg Jets captain Adam Lowry told reporters Saturday that the air will need to be cleared if Connor Hellebuyck is to return to the team after his suspension ends. Speaking to reporters following a narrow 3-2 loss to the defending champion Carolina Hurricanes, Lowry was asked about a report that indicated Hellebuyck’s suspension could end next Friday. He said there would need to be “conversations” should the star goaltender return to the Jets. “He’s a good friend of mine. Do I love the decision? Do I love the way it’s dragged on? No. But we’ll handle the situation when it comes. Obviously we’re disappointed with the outcome, he’s one of the best goalies in the world,” Lowry said. “It’s unfair to speculate on what’s going to happen between now until Friday. But I think if he does show up there’s going to have to be conversations, there’s going to have to be kind of one of those water under the bridge things. Like I said we keep moving forward, we’re a team regardless of who’s in the room.”Lowry also pointed out that things could change between now and a potential return to Winnipeg for Hellebuyck.
