Michael J. Fox receives Canada's highest civilian honour, Entertainment News - AsiaOne
Michael J. Fox received Canada's highest civilian honour on Friday (Oct 2). The Back to the Future actor made a rare public appearance at Rideau Hall, the official residence of the Governor General of Canada, in Ottawa to be promoted to the Companion level of the Order of Canada in recognition of his "powerful global advocacy and unflinching honesty about Parkinson's". Governor General Louise Arbour said during the ceremony: "Your example reminds us of something that's very fundamental: sustainable progress requires that we move forward with courage, imagination and determination. "After all, back to the future has always been a much better idea than forward to the past. "Michael was one of 51 people inducted into or promoted within the Order of Canada on Friday. It was announced earlier this year that he would be promoted to the Companion ranking after previously being made an Officer in 2010. The Governor General's office said at the time: "Michael J. Fox is in a remarkable chapter of his life, blending selective acting with powerful global advocacy and unflinching honesty about Parkinson's. "Through his foundation, he drives transformative research and hope.

'The Traitors' recap: 'Fruitgate' theory has the secret killers sweating - Central Oregon Daily
Spoiler alert: Major spoilers for "The Traitors: New Blood" follow. A new theory exposing "The Traitors" may be coming to fruition. After a near-flawless first half of Season 5, two traitors now face heavy scrutiny after one faithful coined the theory "Fruitgate. " The Emmy-winning competition series' first all-civilian season, titled "New Blood," has so far been a traitor streamroll, though things may take a turn after last week's twist. The three traitors were required to "murder" a faithful in plain sight by tossing one an apple and having them catch it. And while they successfully eliminated a player, the treacherous trio did not go undetected. Though one faithful saw through the fruitful scheme, the rest remain a discombobulated bunch. Paranoia has turned friends against one another, often with disastrous results. Here's what to know about the Oct. 15 episode. How many traitors are left in 'New Blood'? Three traitors remain on Season 5, "New Blood," as the faithful have so far banished other faithful. Boston pilot Tomica Adams and New York funeral director Joe Vanella were the two original traitors, who recruited Florida marketing professional Katie Fites to join them.

In this week’s The Traitors: New Blood , the Faithfuls lose their heads - A.V. Club
Welp, we were certainly overdue for an episode of The Traitors: New Blood that actually gave us something to talk about and, for better or worse, “A Murder Of Necessity” gave us just that in the form of a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it mission, a baffling roundtable, and #Fruitgate. But first, an answer to the cliffhung question, “Who ‘bit’ the poisoned apple?” The answer, it turns out, arrives before Alan can even make it official. Joe can’t sit on his guilt long enough to let the reveal play out properly: He confesses directly to Niyyah that he murdered her, unprompted and visibly anxious about it. “I had to sacrifice a Faithful,” he tells her. “I did not want it to be you… Niyyah, I love you, I’m sorry.” Strategically, the confession costs him nothing—Niyyah’s already dead, the info goes nowhere—which is also what makes it a little curious. To be clear, murdering Niyyah isn’t technically a sin; it’s the gig. Joe’s a Traitor, betrayal is the job, and he’s spent most of this season doing it almost gleefully. That’s what makes the graveside apology sit oddly. Niyyah, in her exit confessional, reads it as Joe needing to clear his conscience, and maybe that’s all it is.

The Traitors: New Blood Recap: The Fruit Toss of Doom - Vulture
It’s a shame that one of the season’s more annoying Faithfuls is the one who actually stumbles onto the Traitors’ trail. If you’re wondering why The Traitors: New Blood seems much more rushed than a typical American Traitors season, it’s because it is! We are losing 18 to 28 minutes per week due to the shift from Peacock to NBC, and I am grumpy about it. This is why I don’t feel like I understand the ties between the players and why the annoying ones take up so much space! Did it take my sister-in-law mentioning this for me to realize it? Yes. I’m the youngest child; I just go along with things.
