Rick Ness Opens Up About His Health Scare and Sleep Apnea on 'Gold Rush' - Yahoo

In the season 17 premiere of Gold Rush, Rick Ness was noticeably missing as his crew arrived at Duncan Creek ready to begin another mining season. Crew members Jason and Heather Folster had made it to Rick's site, but they hadn't heard from their boss and didn't know what his plan was. When Ness finally appeared, viewers learned his absence wasn't simply another mining setback. He had been dealing with a frightening health problem that he said had begun to take over his life. "I can tell you, I don't feel good," Ness told his longtime friend and confidant Brian "Zee" Zaremba during the Oct. 2 premiere. "I can't concentrate, pay attention to anything, I can't stay awake. "Ness said things had become particularly scary over the winter when he began sleepwalking. "I woke up on the floor of my bathroom three times," he revealed, explaining that he'd hit his head on the toilet during the falls and injured both his nose and head. Even more alarming was Ness' inability to stay awake. During his conversation with Zaremba, he appeared to fall asleep while resting on his hand. Ness also recalled falling asleep while standing up. "That ain't no joke anymore," he admitted. Zaremba agreed.

The ‘Holy Grail’ of baseball cards is up for auction - Popular Science

A similar Wagner baseball card auctioned for over $5 million earlier this year. One of history’s most famous baseball cards is up for auction, and bidding has already surpassed $1 million with days left to go. Its official name of the 1909-11 T206 White Border Sweet Caporal 150/25 Honus Wagner PSA Authentic (Restored) is quite the mouthful, but Heritage Auction’s nickname for the memorabilia is much easier to remember. Simply put, the incredibly rare piece of history is the “Holy Grail” of baseball cards.

Bioengineer.org | Viral blips during HIV therapy are common and rarely signal treatment failure, Swedish study finds - European AIDS Treatment Group

Bioengineer.org news storyFor people living with HIV, modern antiretroviral therapy can suppress the virus to levels below what standard laboratory tests can detect. Yet some patients on long-term treatment experience a curious phenomenon: a single test result showing a small, transient amount of virus in the blood, followed by an immediate return to undetectable levels. These events, known as viral blips, have puzzled clinicians and researchers for years, raising questions about whether they represent harmless statistical noise, brief bursts of viral production from hidden reservoirs, or early warnings of impending treatment failure. A new nationwide Swedish study, published in BMC Infectious Diseases, offers one of the most comprehensive answers to date. Drawing on the Swedish national InfCareHIV cohort, researchers analyzed data from 4,210 treatment-naïve adults who began antiretroviral therapy from 1 January 2007 onward, with follow-up data extracted through 30 September 2020. The median observation time was 5.5 years, with some individuals followed for as long as 13.7 years.
