Canada’s Luc De Fougerolles is tackled by Peru’s Jairo Vélez during the second half of a Saturday friendly at Montreal’s Saputo Stadium. Canada won 2-0.

In these parts it’s apparently called le trac. Irrespective of the language, stage fright can trip any tongue. The singer booked for Saturday afternoon anthem duty at Stade Saputo is, despite limited evidence provided, a francophone. She had practised four times. By its nature, “O Canada,” should ease nerves because, well, the first two words are handy. Yet even by the second lyric — the intonation on Canada all wrong — it was clear le trac had struck.

CanMNT Talk: Jesse Marsch's men in fine form in win vs. Peru - TFC Republic

In the latest TFC Republic video blog, we examine Canada's performance in its victory over Peru in Montreal. MONTREAL – The Canadian men's team couldn't ask for a much better start to the latest FIFA international window. Canada made it two shutout wins in a row over South American opposition with a 2-0 victory over Peru on Saturday at Stade Saputo courtesy of Jacob Shaffelburg's first-half brace. Toronto FC defender Richard Chukwu, still only 18, earned his first start in his second appearance for Canada, while coach Jesse Marsch also handed national team debuts to Owen Goodman, Justin Smith and Luca Petrasso. "These are two matches now, against Chile and against Peru, where we walk away feeling like we should score multiple goals, right? Because the identity and the clarity and the talent on the pitch is at a high level, and so we're able to control matches and make teams look bad and make them make it look like they never have a chance in the match," Marsch said. In the latest TFC Republic video blog, we examine Canada's performance vs. Peru.  Watch the video below:

Shaffelburg Brace Secures Canada Win Over Peru - Northern Tribune

A first-half brace from Jacob Shaffelburg ensured Canada kept a 100% win rate through its first two matches of the international break. Head coach Jesse Marsch made five changes from the side which beat nine-man Chile last weekend, handing Owen Goodman his senior international debut between the sticks while youngster Richard Chukwu earned his first start at left-back. Stephen Eustaquio and Liam Millar started after coming on as substitutes against Chile, while Daniel Jebbison replaced Cyle Larin up top after the striker recently tweaked his back.
