NTT DOCOMO BUSINESS, Inc. (formerly NTT Communications Corporation), Japan’s leading global ICT solutions provider, has modernized its shared internal Oracle-based database platform by migrating it to Oracle Autonomous AI Database on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). By moving tens of terabytes of data from its on-premises environment, NTT DOCOMO BUSINESS has been able to reduce database license costs by 43 percent, streamline database management through automation, and strengthen business continuity and resilience.
NTT DOCOMO BUSINESS built its shared database platform to host critical internal systems such as network management, security, and service operations. Currently supporting 12 critical internal systems connected to approximately 400 servers, NTT DOCOMO BUSINESS recognized that maintaining this on-premises environment was becoming increasingly complex and resource intensive. NTT DOCOMO BUSINESS migrated its shared database platform to Oracle Autonomous AI Database on OCI to help maintain the performance and security these critical systems require while reducing costs and simplifying day-to-day database operations through automation.
