(AP Photo/Kayla Wolf, File) MILWAUKEE (AP) — Milwaukee pitcher Brandon Woodruff isn’t giving up hope on the long-shot possibility he could return from his shoulder injury in time to pitch in the World Series if the Brewers advance that far. The two-time All-Star last pitched on July 4 and wasn’t included on the Brewers’ roster for their NL Division Series against the San Diego Padres. Woodruff conceded he wouldn’t be ready in time for a potential NL Championship Series that would begin next weekend, but he’s holding out hope of being ready if the Brewers earn their first World Series berth since 1982.

Milwaukee, you have a World Series! 44 years later, this one's for the believers - MLB.com
LOS ANGELES — There’s always been the misconception that it was the late, legendary Bob Uecker who uttered what were, before Thursday night, the six sweetest words ever said about the Milwaukee Brewers. But no. Uecker hustled down to the clubhouse amid the final innings of Game 5 of the 1982 American League Championship Series to host the pending celebration on radio. So when Rod Carew hit a bouncer to Robin Yount at shortstop, and Yount made a throw to Cecil Cooper that seemed like it hung in the air forever, and fans streamed onto the field at County Stadium with joy, it was Uecker’s broadcast partner, Dwayne Mosley, who said those six magic words. “Milwaukee, you have a World Series!” Over the next four decades, it sometimes seemed like those words might never be said again. Then, it happened. The Brewers came from four runs down to beat the Dodgers in Game 4 of the National League Championship Series, 6-4, and swept the series in four games. Milwaukee – and Wisconsin – you have a World Series. This time, it was one of Uecker’s partners in the booth, Jeff Levering, who had the call when Jackson Chourio ran down the final out at the left field warning track.

Padres’ Ty France just relived a Blue Jays World Series nightmare in Milwaukee - Jays Journal
Ty France might be one of the unluckiest players over the past two postseasons. During Game One of his San Diego Padres NLDS matchup in Milwaukee, the slugging first baseman was at the plate in a crucial situation. With one on and one out in the top of the ninth and the Padres trailing the Brewers 3-2, France stepped up to the plate and blasted a ball that should have put the Padres ahead. Everyone in that stadium thought the ball was gone - but Milwaukee's American Family Field had other ideas. The umpiring crew came together and ruled that it was indeed an out. “I haven’t really been able to fully process it,” France told reporters after the game. “But it was a game-changing swing. I guess the biggest question was whether it was going to stay fair or foul. I thought I backspun it and thought it was going to stay fair.

Israeli settlers attack European diplomats during West Bank olive harvest - Al Jazeera
Israeli settlers have attacked European diplomats, including a French mayor, near the Palestinian village of Taybeh in the occupied West Bank. The delegation was visiting Palestinian olive harvesters on Saturday when the Israeli attackers confronted the group. The attack comes a day after settlers assaulted a US journalist north of Ramallah. In Saturday’s incident, the settlers targeted Belgium’s consul general, French and Polish diplomats and Catholic representatives, Belgian Foreign Minister Maxime Prevot said. “A French mayor was assaulted and a Belgian vehicle damaged,” Prevot said, linking the attack to what he called Israel’s “illegal settlement policy” and pledging to push for further European Union sanctions. French mayor Bernard Baudoux, who was assaulted, told the AFP news agency that the violence suggests that “there is a tolerance on the part of the Israeli government” towards settler violence. Al Jazeera’s Nour Odeh, reporting from Ramallah, said the settlers surrounded the diplomats’ vehicles, pelted them with stones and smashed their windows.
