The next season of the HBO crime series confirmed the duo today with a video post on social media. Production is expected to begin in 2027, with a more specific release date for the follow-up episodes unclear for now. True Detective Season 4: Night Country showrunner Issa López is back to serve as showrunner on Season 5. Word of Cage's potential involvement surfaced all the way back in August of last year, but updates on that front then went quiet for months.

Production is set to start in 2027 for the show, which is being led by showrunner Issa López, who oversaw season four Night Country.
