Clayface star says uncomfortable prosthetics helped his performance - BBC

Clayface star says uncomfortable prosthetics helped his performance7 hours agoLucy OwenBBC WalesWarner BrothersTom Rhys Harries says wearing malleable prosthetics was a "steep learning curve"Actors are often said to be the face of the film, but in Tom Rhys Harries' breakout role in DC's latest blockbuster, that part of the body becomes the focal point to chart the character's descent into villainy. Rhys Harries plays the lead in Clayface as Matt Hogan, a handsome, successful actor. When his face is mutilated in an attack, he volunteers for trials of a new treatment with horrifying side effects that transform his face into living clay. The Welsh actor said he spent about half of his time on the set with the special effects make-up team, transforming into the mutant villain. Despite the difficulty of wearing extensive prosthetics during filming, Rhys Harries said it helped him portray the distress of his character in a film that has been described as a body horror psychological thriller. "There was a benefit to having it, because the character is in discomfort", he said.

James Cameron congratulates Avengers: Endgame's box office success with bonkers image - A.V. Club

Marvel Studios’ release of Avengers: Endgame: Encore was a shrewd gambit for a few reasons: It put the studio’s most successful film back in conversation right after the juggernaut success of Spider-Man: Brand New Day; it tided die-hards over with new footage ahead of December’s Avengers: Doomsday; and, perhaps most importantly, it raked in an additional $138 million for the film, reinstating its position as the worldwide box office champion over James Cameron’s Avatar. Cameron, who certainly doesn’t spend his precious time fretting about such matters as lifetime financial grosses and being the best in the world at stuff, recently expressed his congratulations to Marvel for once again overtaking his 2009 sci-fi film. “You are one of the people,” the director wrote (per The Wrap) in a composite image from Avatar, with Iron Man at the center of a welcoming Na’vi tribe. “Congratulations to Marvel and the #1 Avengers: Endgame: Encore for bringing moviegoers to the cinemas! – Jim Cameron.”
