For Jeffrey Whaley, danger comes with the job. The Canadian BMX freestyle rider flips, spins and tailwhips over gaps most of us would never even consider. But it’s a risk he chooses to take.

“I control my flairs and backflips. I do not control the war over there,” Whaley says.

3 science-backed reasons you prefer vinyl over streaming - Pocket-lint

Joe Oliveto has over a decade of experience covering tech, physical media, and entertainment. His work has appeared in such digital publications as HuffPost, Thrillist, Yahoo!, Time, Elite Daily, Cracked, and numerous others. Along with collecting physical media, his hobbies include hiking, reading, going to concerts, and attending repertory film screenings throughout NYC. Jokes about the pretentiousness of those of us who prefer vinyl records have grown so common it’s possible to argue those making such jokes are now more annoying than their targets ever were. That said, if, like myself, you advocate for the advantages of this music format, you might want some facts you can deploy in your defense when faced with such mockery. After a while, telling people “Vinyl just sounds warmer to me” might lose its power as an argument tactic. Luckily, when someone claims your love of vinyl is just a hipster act, you can respond with something truly powerful: science and research. As it turns out, academics and scholars have completed a few studies whose conclusions can help you better explain why you think vinyl is the superior format for enjoying music.

I've been to Cancún countless times — but I prefer this quieter island about 30 minutes away - Business Insider

Isla Mujeres offered gorgeous food, great views, and fewer crowds than Cancún. I love Cancún's balmy, multi-blue-toned water, but I'm less fond of the crowds, nightlife, and traffic. These days, when I travel, I want as much peace and nature as possible, from calming ocean waves to the squeaky chatter of local birds. I've been to Cancún countless times, but recently visited the nearby Isla Mujeres for the first time — and found it to be the quiet, tropical escape that I needed. This island is just a 30-minute boat ride from Cancún, but it feels worlds away. It's also much smaller — the entire island of Isla Mujeres is 5 miles long, less than half of Cancún's Hotel Zone alone. The island is ideal for those who, like me, want to avoid the crowds and loud music of Cancún and Tulum. The island is just a quick ferry ride from Cancún

Israeli settlers attack European diplomats during West Bank olive harvest - Al Jazeera

Israeli settlers have attacked European diplomats, including a French mayor, near the Palestinian village of Taybeh in the occupied West Bank. The delegation was visiting Palestinian olive harvesters on Saturday when the Israeli attackers confronted the group. The attack comes a day after settlers assaulted a US journalist north of Ramallah. In Saturday’s incident, the settlers targeted Belgium’s consul general, French and Polish diplomats and Catholic representatives, Belgian Foreign Minister Maxime Prevot said. “A French mayor was assaulted and a Belgian vehicle damaged,” Prevot said, linking the attack to what he called Israel’s “illegal settlement policy” and pledging to push for further European Union sanctions. French mayor Bernard Baudoux, who was assaulted, told the AFP news agency that the violence suggests that “there is a tolerance on the part of the Israeli government” towards settler violence. Al Jazeera’s Nour Odeh, reporting from Ramallah, said the settlers surrounded the diplomats’ vehicles, pelted them with stones and smashed their windows.
