Country star diagnosed with rare blood cancer after health scare: ‘One day at a time’Digital Content ManagerNASHVILLE, Tenn. —Charles Kelley, the singer and songwriter best known as a founding member of the country trio Lady A, revealed he’s been diagnosed with a rare blood cancer. The 44-year-old Grammy winner shared the news on Instagram this week, saying that doctors have diagnosed him with multiple myeloma – a rare blood cancer in which abnormal plasma cells grow in the bone marrow. Kelley said it started with him going to the doctor to address a few “random” rib fractures, which prompted several blood tests from doctors. Despite his diagnosis, Kelley said he’s hopeful. "I'm young. I feel healthy. The treatments, I will have to say, have just come so far, even in the past five years that, even life expectancy just far exceeds what it used to be," Kelley said. His diagnosis does not mean an end to the music. "I can still work. I think physically I will feel like myself,” he said.
