Max Verstappen still has a chance of becoming world champion in 2026. That chance is particularly slim, however, and Verstappen must hope that the Grands Prix in the Middle East go ahead. Championship picture after the Singapore GPAfter the Singapore Grand Prix, there are officially still six Grands Prix to go in 2026. However, two scenarios need to be considered. Officially, F1 is still planning to hold the Grands Prix in Qatar and Abu Dhabi, but there is still a chance that the season will end with a Grand Prix in Imola. Those two scenarios also mean a different number of points remain available. If Qatar and Abu Dhabi go ahead, there will be six Grands Prix and therefore 150 points at stake in 2026. If the season ends in Imola with a single-race weekend, only 125 points will remain available after Singapore. Before the Singapore Grand Prix, Verstappen was 129 points behind championship leader Kimi Antonelli. Thanks to Verstappen's victory and Antonelli's third place, that gap is now 119 points.

Israeli settlers attack European diplomats during West Bank olive harvest - Al Jazeera
Israeli settlers have attacked European diplomats, including a French mayor, near the Palestinian village of Taybeh in the occupied West Bank. The delegation was visiting Palestinian olive harvesters on Saturday when the Israeli attackers confronted the group. The attack comes a day after settlers assaulted a US journalist north of Ramallah. In Saturday’s incident, the settlers targeted Belgium’s consul general, French and Polish diplomats and Catholic representatives, Belgian Foreign Minister Maxime Prevot said. “A French mayor was assaulted and a Belgian vehicle damaged,” Prevot said, linking the attack to what he called Israel’s “illegal settlement policy” and pledging to push for further European Union sanctions. French mayor Bernard Baudoux, who was assaulted, told the AFP news agency that the violence suggests that “there is a tolerance on the part of the Israeli government” towards settler violence. Al Jazeera’s Nour Odeh, reporting from Ramallah, said the settlers surrounded the diplomats’ vehicles, pelted them with stones and smashed their windows.
