"The Altruists," a series about the rise and fall of crypto exchange FTX, will debut on Netflix.

Former FTX staffers are calling Netflix's new show about the company's collapse more fiction than fact. Constance Wang, the former chief operating officer of FTX and co-CEO of FTX Digital Markets, said watching the trailer for "The Altruists" made her "physically throw up. "Premiering on November 19, "The Altruists" is an eight-episode series dramatizing the rise and fall of the cryptocurrency exchange under former CEO Sam Bankman-Fried. Bankman-Fried is now serving a 25-year prison sentence for fraud after siphoning away billions from FTX customers. Caroline Ellison, who previously led FTX's affiliated crypto trading firm, Alameda Research, pleaded guilty to fraud and conspiracy and also served time in prison for her role in the scheme. The show is called "The Altruists" because the pair initially said they were members of the effective altruism movement, which advocates earning as much money as possible to help improve the world. "I was COO from before FTX even had a name, it was my baby, and I was the last one out of the Bahamas after Sam got extradited.
