AbstractSewing is one of the established methods used to fabricate and assemble multilayer insulation (MLI) blankets for aerospace applications, yet the resulting effective flexural behavior remains insufficiently understood. This study investigates the room-temperature, quasi-static flexural behavior of MLI blankets composed of aluminized BoPET radiation shields and polyester net spacers across structural configurations of 2, 6, 12, and 24 layers. A full factorial design was employed to evaluate the influence of the number of layers, stitch density, needle thread tension, and needle foot force. Statistical analyses demonstrated that the number of layers is the dominant factor governing flexural response. Among the sewing parameters, needle thread tension was associated with modifications in bending length, while needle foot force primarily affected local compaction.

Microplastic contamination in commercially important marine fishes from the Sohar Coast, Sea of Oman: occurrence, characterization, and polymer composition - Nature

AbstractMicroplastic (MP) pollution is an increasing concern in marine environments because of its persistence, bioavailability, and potential implications for marine ecosystem health and seafood safety. Despite growing global attention, information on MP contamination in commercially important marine fish from the Sea of Oman remains limited. This study assessed the occurrence, abundance, and characteristics of MPs in four commercially important fish species from the Sohar coast and tested whether MP contamination differed among species and tissues and was associated with habitat group, sex, and biometric characteristics. A total of 120 fish representing Epinephelus areolatus, Lethrinus microdon, Nematalosa arabica, and Rastrelliger kanagurta were examined for MPs in the gastrointestinal tract (GIT) and gills.
Characterization and efficacy of green-synthesized silver nanoparticles against Puccinia species - in vitro - Nature
We’re sharing this article early to provide faster access to peer-reviewed, accepted research. It is citable and carries a permanent DOI. This version is subject to further edits and will be replaced automatically by the final Version of Record. All legal disclaimers apply. AbstractPuccinia species cause substantial losses in wheat production and productivity across the globe, creating a serious challenge to food security. The environmental and health risks associated with conventional fungicides necessitate sustainable alternatives. The present study examines the eco-friendly synthesis of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) employing Eucalyptus globulus leaf extract through a biological reduction approach and evaluates antifungal efficacy against wheat rust pathogens. GC-MS identified bioactive compounds in the phytoextract, primarily alkaloids and flavonoids. UV-visible spectroscopy confirmed AgNPs formation. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, Scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, dynamic light scattering, and zeta potential analysis established their functional groups, surface morphology and size (22–50 nm), crystalline nature, and colloidal stability.
