David Berson, president and CEO of CBS Sports, has been tapped to oversee global sports operations at Skydance Corp., the umbrella brand that will encompass all assets under the soon-to-be-merged Paramount and Warner Bros. Discovery. Berson, who succeeded longtime CBS Sports boss Sean McManus upon his retirement in April 2024, will ride herd on the combined CBS and TNT Sports portfolios. An official confirmation of Berson’s new role is expected to drop later this week, as the $110 billion merger is set to formally close Oct. 6. Under Berson, Skydance’s beefed-up sports division will boast an enviable wealth of media rights, ranging from CBS’ Sunday afternoon NFL package to the full bracket of men’s March Madness games. Also to share living quarters: Big Ten football and basketball; Big 12 football and basketball; Major League Baseball; the NHL; the Masters Tournament; NASCAR; UEFA Champions League and the annual Army-Navy game. In advance of Tuesday’s formal commingling of assets, TNT Sports chairman and CEO Luis Silberwasser informed staffers of his imminent departure from the company.
