“Dancing With the Stars” is benching Val Chmerkovskiy after his recent joke about judge Carrie Ann Inaba.
“The well-being of everyone who works on ‘Dancing with the Stars’ is non-negotiable. Val’s social media post was inappropriate and does not reflect the values or standards expected of anyone connected with the show,” BBC Studios said in a statement on Saturday. “As a result, he will not participate in next week’s show.”

‘DWTS’: Val Chmerkovskiy References Will Smith’s Oscars Slap While Defending Wife Jenna Johnson Amid Carrie Ann Inaba Criticism - The Hollywood Reporter
Dancing With the Stars professional dancer Val Chmerkovskiy has been defending his wife, fellow pro Jenna Johnson, online after judge Carrie Ann Inaba‘s criticism of her choreography during Tuesday’s Super Bowl Night. However, one social media post particularly caught the attention of fans: a TikTok Story where Chmerkovskiy wrote, “You almost saw Fresh Prince enter the ballroom last night,” a comment some believe is a reference to Will Smith infamously slapping Chris Rock at the 2022 Oscars. Inaba responded to Chmerkovskiy’s remarks on Instagram Thursday. “So this is what we are doing now?” she wrote while resharing a screenshot of a Page Six post featuring the dancer’s “Fresh Prince” comment, alongside a split image of Smith and Chmerkovskiy.
