‘Father Of PlayStation’ Ken Kutaragi Blames A ‘Mentality Issue’ For The Backlash To Killing Discs
Ken Kutaragi practically willed the PlayStation into existence against the wishes and judgment of many others at Sony. His tenacity paid off. Decades after the PS1 launched, the PlayStation brand is dominant in the world of high-end console gaming. But the discs that propelled the platform to success are not long for this world, and Kutaragi thinks the death of physical PlayStation games makes sense. “I understand that physical discs have become a metaphor for ‘owning’ games. I really understand that mentality,” he told VGC in a new interview. “But nobody thinks [physical media] is necessary for a networked device like a smartphone, for example, because people feel that they will keep their content. So it’s a mentality.” He continued, “I really understand [why some people are upset], but I don’t think it’s economically reasonable. Maybe it’s a mentality issue.” Despite Sony’s commitment to killing off discs in 2028, many die-hard PlayStation fans aren’t letting go without a fight. Part of that is nostalgia and sentimentality.

Bishops from violence-stricken countries emphasize importance of mental health - Vatican News
During a press conference at the Vatican at the end of the gathering, “A Healing Presence: The Church’s Call to Mental Health Ministry,” several bishops from countries faced with war, violence and poverty insisted on the importance of ministering to those struggling with mental health, echoing also Pope Leo XIV’s October prayer intention. As Pope Leo XIV encouraged everyone to pray for mental health ministry in the month of October, bishops, pastoral workers, academic experts and more gathered at the Vatican for the conference “A Healing Presence: The Church’s Call to Mental Health Ministry,” to discuss how the Church can support and be close to those struggling with their psychological well-being.

‘They shouldn’t be surprised’: Nova Scotians take stand against major data centre project - Global News
A group of Nova Scotians gathered on the waterfront in Halifax on Saturday with a message for Premier Tim Houston: allowing the construction of a large data centre will be detrimental to the environment and the community. “These companies don’t have a lot of information that they’re able to give us, we don’t know what this is gonna look like, we already have wells that are drying up in the summertime. I don’t think we can afford to do this,” Megan Boudreau, one of the protest organizers, told Global News. Energy and infrastructure company, EverWind, announced on Friday $10 billion in private investment in a data centre campus at its existing Point Tupper site. The site would be leased and run by AI development company Anthropic, the creator of the AI assistant Claude. “Canadians are using Claude in growing numbers, and we want our infrastructure to be closer to the people who rely on it,” said Jacob Glick, head of Canada Public Policy with Anthropic.
