Classic Sports Moments looks back on some legendary Riders v Elks battles - CTV News

The Saskatchewan Roughriders got two pieces of good news ahead of Saturday’s crucial tilt against the Montreal Alouettes: Davis Alexander will not be in the lineup for Montreal, and the Roughriders will have two key pieces back from injury. Per the team’s official depth chart, the Alouettes (13-3) are planning to start Dustin Crum at quarterback for the tilt. With the top spot in the East Division locked up, regular starter and CFL passing yards leader Alexander is set to rest in a meaningless game for Montreal. The Alouettes will also not have their top two receiving targets in the lineup for the matchup - Tyler Snead and Tyson Philpot. Philpot’s 1,809 receiving yards are tops in the CFL entering Week 20, while Snead ranks second in the league with 1,474 yards receiving. The two are tied for the league lead in receiving touchdowns with 13 apiece; five clear of any other receiver in the league this season. You can watch the Alouettes battle the Roughriders LIVE on TSN1/3, streaming on TSN.ca and on the TSN App, with coverage beginning Saturday at 3p.m. ET / Noon PT.

First to worst, and worst to first? That's a real possibility in the wild West with just two weeks remaining in the CFL regular season.

Photo: Edmonton ElksIt’s been 11 years since the Edmonton Elks hosted the West Final, but the team is only one win away from ending that drought and ensuring to path to the 113th Grey Cup runs through the Concrete Castle of the North. After winning back-to-back games against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats to improve their record to 6-1 over their last seven outings, the Elks can clinch first place in the West Division with a win over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers this week, and team they’ve already beaten twice this year. For franchise quarterback Cody Fajardo, the timing seems perfect.
